Could lower models be gifted ludicrous mode someday?

Curious if ludicrous mode only appears as an option on the top of the line because it's a limitation of the battery / drivetrain or if it's simply being reserved for the top tier as a premium option.

Could a software update someday down the line allow a lower model to have the same launch capabilities ? The same way Auto Pilot can be purchased and turned on after the fact; allow ludicrous mode to be purchased and enabled.

Nope. Ludicrous is a fuse that allows the motors to draw more from the battery. If you don't have the P motors it's not going to make a difference.

It's a product of the motors, the battery, the software, etc. The current flavor of Ludicrous mode is unique to the PxxD models.

It is widely believed that the P90D (none Ludicrous) comes with the necessary fuse already. There are several reports of P90D badged test drive units at dealers having Ludicrous through a software update.

The answer would be no for all other lower models.
