CPO lower than expected mile range

I just received my CPO this past Thursday. I got a 2014 S 60 with 29k miles on it. At the moment of the delivery with the excitement of getting the car I saw the range but didn't check what was the percentage charged. That night I plugged the car at home to charge up to the recommended 90%, to my surprise it only charged up to 160 miles, which would be around 76% of 210 miles. I double check and indeed it was set to charge to 90%. Next day I tried charging to 100% just to check what the full range was at it only charged to 178 miles, which is about 85% of the original 210. I'm obviously not expecting a used electric car to have no battery degradation but 32 miles less is a lot, especially when the pre-owned info it still listed the car at 210. I'm just upset that this battery degradation wasn't informed to me before hand. I guess this is a lesson from buying a second hand electric car.

I already called my delivery specialist but he was out for the holiday weekend. I wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience with the battery degradation on a CPO?

Nah, that seems excessively low. I have the same model year/battery, and my 90% is 185.

I had a 2013 60, and it dropped to about 182 at 100% once. It was just the pack out of balance, because I had dropped my daily charge to 70% for months. I charged to about 93%, then dropped it to 90% daily, and over the next couple of weeks it went all the way back up to 198 @ 100%, and that's what it was when I sold it last year.

You should do a search here for pack balancing, as there are plenty of folks who are smarter than me detailing how to balance the pack.

Oh, and I NEVER saw 210. I think the first week I had it I saw 205...after that it was 198, maybe 199 on a good day.

Hi. It's too low. At 29,000 miles, the average is 95.5% of original range. If you want you can enter your data here. Then go to the charts page and select your username. This will show how your range compares to all the other entries. Take a screenshot of that so if somebody from Tesla says that's normal, you can show them it's not. However, be aware that your entry might not appear as the chart shows only up to 85%. Therefore your entry might be literally off the charts low.

By the way, be aware that this could be a rebalancing issue, instead of a degradation issue. The car can't correctly estimate how much energy the battery holds if the battery was never fully discharged. Therefore fully discharging (or almost fully discharging) the battery once a month is a good idea. However, you must not leave the battery fully discharged. You need to plug in and charge again without leaving the battery near 0%. Leaving the battery near 0% or near 100% are both bad for battery health.

Another small detail I want to add is about the 210 mi EPA rated range you said Tesla used when they listed the car. I believe this is incorrect. The original S60 has 208 mi EPA rated range. I believe if the car had a window sticker, it would show 208 mi. The software limited 2016 S60's have 210 mi EPA. You can see the 208 and 210 mi numbers here under the small car icons. Good luck.

living through this now. charged to 75% for the last half year and am only seeing 165 at 90% right now. service center is having me charge to 90% for a few months to get it back up.
