So I put a deposit down on a P85 on 2/16/17 from the Florida area. It had been a service loaner for the Dania Beach service center for its entire life. It arrived at the nearest service center (Nashville, TN) to me on 2/26/17 and they completed their CPO inspection. They let me know that despite setting up a delivery for 3/3 they wouldn't be able to meet that goal by at least 2 weeks due to repairs necessary. Obviously hearing that gave me some pause and my father is advising that I start looking to another vehicle. Now I should note I wasn't pressing Tesla on a delivery date at all. The first time I heard from my DS was to tell me that 3/3 would be the delivery date. I had them send along a list of repairs and maybe people will say that list looks normal for an almost 3 year old service loaner and they just jumped the gun on setting a date.

    Cosmetic :
    1. Both rear wheels refinished or replaced, curb rash (LR has a chunk taken out on one of the spokes)
    2. Front Bumper re-painted
    3. Rear Bumper re-painted
    4. Dents in LR door, RR door (above handle) and burn mark in paint on RR door
    Mechanical :
    1. 1 Key inop
    2. Rear drive unit – humming
    3. a/c acoustic cover
    4. Rear applique – condensation
    5. Front roof applique – seals deformed
    6. Both side roof applique – seals torn
    7. Aluminum trim on driver’s side inside door handle

It looks like you are fortunate they are looking at it close. I would not be concerned

That is great thay they are looking after it that way. I would rather have that stuff taken care of pre-delivery.

Considering people ordering new cars from the factory are having to have similar issues addressed at delivery I would feel pretty good they are getting them fixed prior to delivery.

I had a similar list for my CPO, repainted front/back bumpers, new wheels and tires etc.. (also due to be delivered 3/4)

Mine had a frunk dent repaired, wheel rash repaired, a new drive unit and some trim adjusted.

I dont believe my frunk dent involved any paint, but thats the only item on your list that might give me pause. Mostly because that might be detected as a repair upon selling the car using a paint thickness measuring tool (assuming you sell to a dealer vs private party)

interesting that they gave you the cpo timeline. I put my deposit in 1/8 they told me 6 to weeks and a week later told me early March. Maybe because I am in the bay area and they are busy with cop's. But it was never 4 weeks, it was always 6 to 8 week late feb early march

It looks like pretty standard stuff to me.

What @Az_Rael said re paint. You may want to ask why this was needed to make sure it was only "parking kisses" vs something more substantial.

The team at Houston North sent my CPO off to have the Frunk repainted as it had significant road rash and a hail dent possibly? In either case. I could not be more pleased with the results.

Thanks all for your replies. I've asked for clarification from Tesla and have not heard back yet. I'll keep everyone updated. They've setup a new delivery date for me which is 3/22. Hopefully all goes well because that's the same day my existing lease goes back. I've been prepared to be without a vehicle however since my initial expectation was that I wouldn't be able to take possession of the car until the beginning of April.

So I asked for clarification on the damage repair to the bumpers and the doors but my delivery specialist didn't see the vehicle and no one in service could recall what it was. The car has been at the body shop since 3/2 so they can't get me any info. The body shop decided that one of the bumpers can't be repainted and must be replaced. So they're ordering a new bumper. Amazingly they don't know which bumper it is and when I spoke to service they said they ordered both front and rear bumpers for my car because they too had no clarification. My delivery is now setup for 3/16/17 so it will end up being exactly 4 weeks. I guess I'll just have to see the quality of the repair in person.

I would just ask them to change both just to take it off their hands and help them manage their storage space. Or more seriously, I would simply ask that they replace both to be on the safe side since both bumpers needed some sort of work to begin with.

I had a significant "crease" on a door when I picked up my inv car and the car was perfect when I got it back, impossible to tell.

How did you get that info, I just put a reserve on a CPO and would like to know what has happened to it and what they are fixing?
