CPOs before the BIG change

I put down a deposit on April 3rd for a CPO. I asked a sales advisor today and they said the car is currently getting refurbed at a service center. Did I luck out?

For those who bought CPOs from East coast to West coast or vice versa, is it normal to have the car refurbished before transport? I thought it would make more sense to ship the car first and then have it refurbished at our local service center.

Yes I know, I will not pay until I fully inspect the car at delivery.

This car supposedly needed extra time to "refurbish" before delivery...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

The best advice is to not pay a cent until you see the car and it is acceptable to you. The moment you pay, you are done. They would not even accept the OP's calls after he paid.

If not for TMC he'd likely be still pounding sand trying to get his CPO car fixed.

Is there a thread on the CPO change, what brought it on and the impact to their inventory? I was shocked that I noticed a CPO listing that included "Not Refurbished." That language was noted on a 3 year old P85D for which they are asking $98,200!

Yeah it is ridiculous.

Can you imagine a car dealer selling a $98,000 used car while proudly proclaiming that it is not refurbished?

I picked up my “refurbished” 2015 P85D a week and a half ago.

Delivery Specialist: “I just noticed all of these hood marks. We’ll have it repainted. “

Frankly, refurbished should mean they already fixed it before I picked it up. I was really disappointed compared to the experience I was led to expect when buying such an expensive car unseen. Nothing like a BMW CPO experience. This is my first Tesla and and I’m already on the fence about how/if to buy the next one.

If your delivery happened tomorrow it would be:

"Oh so you noticed all the marks on the hood now did you? That will be $$$$. Those marks on the hood are not free. How do you want to pay for it if you prefer to not have the marks on the hood?" :p

Hah, yes, I know! I guess I'm glad I bought it when I did... Though I'm wondering how much the new non-refurbished CPO's will encourage more third party sales/dealers over Tesla. The CPO warranty is nice and was a major factor in my decision to pay extra for CPO. But the original warranty term may be fine for lots of second hand purchasers.
