Here is Missoula, very well underway!

Here's a snapshot taken by my best friend of progress on the Missoula supercharger, taken this morning.

Missoula is open! I just Saw Bozeman's Second Model S at Bozeman's Supercharger and Just heard that the other Tesla was the first to charge up in Missoula just after 9 am moments after it went active. It was the Owner's employee that was driving the car. She said she charged in Coeur d'Alene at a 30 amp overnight and then caught Missoula and then made it to Bozeman. A fourth red dot in Montana is soon to appear on The Supercharger map! That makes Coeur d'Alene the major gap to Ritzville, WA now, Montana is now SuperCharged and no longer an Ion Desert Wasteland.

Also need Sheridan and Gillette to connect to the east coast. Butte and Superior would be nice as well...

Staff at Best Western in Sheridan is under the impression that they are getting the supercharger there, construction starting July 2015.
However, another thread says that the Hampton Inn in Sheridan has HPWC's INSTALLED and are just waiting on breakers. So call first. Tip: Just a few hundred yards down the road from the Hampton is Peter D's RV park, and he'll let you plug into a 50 Amp NEMA 14-50 for $20

All of the above is accurate though some have had poor reception/refusal at Peter D's. The KOA has not had any bad feedback yet.

Spoke with the General Manager (Gunter H. Orband) at the Best Western Sheridan in downtown. He confirms that they are getting the SC's in their parking lot and says they are starting construction "in early May".
However, seeing as it isn't showing as permitted yet at supercharge.info, beginning of construction may be delayed.
Spoke with the front desk at the Hampton 4/20 PM and the guy said, "We're hoping the breaker comes tomorrow, but for sure it will be up and running by Friday. If you're coming after Friday, you don't even have to call". FWIW.

Well Friday came and went and there's still no juice at the Sheridan Hampton HPWCs.

I called to check (5/21/2015). Since they don't accept a small dog, we won't be staying there. But if I wanted to charge it would be $25.
One question: did Tesla provide this? I know it costs to hook it up (I hooked up the NEMA 14-50 at home), but $25 seems high.

Tesla did provide it and covered the install. Destination charging is often limited to guests--I've not heard of what others have been charging for exceptions. I think the most common scenarios are either an outright "no" or free.

It's kind of dumb to charge that much to non-customers as they are much more likely to stay non-customers. Especially given that it is likely to be $5-10 worth of electricity. People remember gouging and unfriendliness for a very long time.

I don't know. Seems pretty nice they open it to the public at all.

I suspect they're thinking they'd like to discourage all but those who REALLY need it from charging there so it's available for guests. At $25 it certainly isn't helping cover the cost and potential headaches of managing non-guests, and calling it gouging seems a bit judgemental.

Hear, Hear!!

EV drivers in general, and Tesla drivers in particular get spoiled by free charging. Free charging comes from the goodwill of many sites and the brilliant marketing of Tesla. The convenience of 80 Amp charging in this Supercharger gap is wonderful. $25 seems high compared to the free or $5 or $10 we see most other places, but it is on the low side of a gasoline fill up, and would probably be accepted as a pet charge at a hotel. It is also less than the overnight price of an RV spot that I have paid.

If I were on this route, I would happily pay $25 to save a few hours charging time elsewhere.

This owner could probably gain more goodwill by charging less, but $25 is very tolerable.
