On finance: Why is anyone sending a check? My CU just wired the money and it takes under an hour, usually, and you aren’t scrambling to find out if it was mailed and who got it, etc. Tesla gives all lenders that option. It’s 2021 and you’re buying a cutting edge EV. Tell your lender to wire money.

On SAs: Thankless job and they really don’t have any meaningful info. In 9 years, I’ve never found that being the “squeaky wheel” does anything with Tesla. Some SAs try, some don’t. Your car will come when Uncle Elon wishes to bestow it upon you.

funny I haven't really bugged mine, only reached out to him twice to add a referral code to my order and to upgrade the wheels. other than that radio silence on both sides. I actually stopped by the dealership over the weekend to gawk at the cars and put a temp hold on my order.
Yeahhhh, I never bugged mine. He gave us his personal cell phone number the day I placed an order. He is the one to update me weekly and sent me the articles on the hold on the cars. So I guess it can be funny 😆 🤷🏻‍♀️
All I know is he has gone above and beyond for me, because he.. himself is passionate about the car and his job.
I appreciate it and will be returning the kindness and attention back 😁🎁

Um, I honestly will give my SA huge credit. He updates me weekly, send articles and has held communication with me the whole process.
has given me an over night test drive etc.

Most people on this forum can’t even get ahold of their SA. Meanwhile I have my SA personal cell phone number and he is really trying to keep me hyped and updated.

let’s see when this week brings
I'm so jealous! I'm not sure if we have the same SA but mine will typically leave me on read. Although he did finally call me last week to tell me I should be seeing a VIN this week so fingers crossed!

Your experience sounds much more like mine. I can’t get a call back from anyone and they act annoyed when I do reach someone and ask for some updates over the “script:
yeah they made us feel like a burden, and was okay with their lies when they were supposed to have that demo car ready on june 1st just to sell it early may three days after we agreed on the deal (and yes i offered to pay in full if needed)

So I brought this up when I was talking to the Dublin delivery specialist. He said many credit unions still aren’t set up to electronically transfer to Tesla yet. I agree, it’s lame.

Another thing he mentioned is that he’s seen too many times where these credit unions “screw something up” and either don’t send the payment right away or even send it to the wrong place. This has caused folks to lose their delivery. He especially said it’s true for CU’s on the east coast where it takes a while for the payment to arrive. This is why he suggested asking for a photo and tracking number of the check as “proof” so you can take delivery and not have to wait for your check to arrive and be validated by Tesla.

My CU is local and I’m planning on just picking up the check from them (branch is less than a mile away) and just handing it personally to the delivery specialist.

Another NY guy here. Ordered 4/17 MYLR, 5 seats, white. Delivery date was pushed a few days ago to June 16-30 (no VIN assigned yet). I really hope I can get the car before the end of June so I can claim the NY EV rebate.

BTW, I checked the insurance costs for Tesla, and the prices seems extremely high ($400-500/month). Is anyone from the NYC area can share potential insurance costs? I know that it is very subjective, but a range would be great (I'm over 30 with no prior accidents; hadn't owned a car for a while now as I live in the city).

Thanks and hope to see some VINs assigned this weeks!
My GEICO quote for NJ was ~$100/month.

We shouldn’t loose the NY rebate with the price of a MY LR.

Thank you all for your help with my DCU credit union question. I finished my application by joining a school fund for $10, and was pre-approved for a $35,000 loan - which is not enough. I want to borrow about $52,000 - do they loan higher amounts? My score is about 815, unblemished credit history, etc.
They loan up to 100% of the total cost of the car (including tax) in my experience. I would call their number and enter extension 9150 to talk to a loan officer.

Haven't seen anyone report anything from Springfield wish we could get pics! My SA also told me by this week I should start hearing something about VIN, I just wonder if poor Sapphire is just sitting outside all this time :(
I was by there last week Wednesday at noon. I had to pick up a few things from Staples (next door);
I planned to share some photos, but I couldn’t really tell where the intake lot is located and a lot of employees were eating outside. Didn’t want to snoop unless I knew where to look. If someone can let me know the lot at Springfield I’ll want to look at I can come up with an excuse to head in - maybe I can entice the family with Krispy Kreme (also next to Tesla) if they put up with my shenanigans.

From what I saw across the street there were a lot of what looked like Model 3s. They also seem to store vehicles in the lot behind Staples, but these were older Xs and 3s so I’m guessing it’s a repair overflow lot.

We moved out of NYC recently, and I can tell you that unfortunately that’s just what they charge. You can lower the rate in some conditions, like parking in a garage, but car insurance premiums for NYC take into account the thousands of hit and runs + other problems associated with a dense population. When I shopped a little over two years ago when I entertained the idea of a Tesla in the city I believe $400 was about the average with the lowest being $350ish from Liberty. Mutual. When we moved to NJ the insurance rate (progressive) went from $200 for our 2005 Mercury to $28 a month (Only state minimum though not worth it to put comprehensive on this car 😆). The Model Y quote we got from Progressive with good comprehensive coverage, is $86 a month if we pay in full for 6 months at a time. Both wife and I have clean records. Moral of the story, everything in NYC is unnecessarily pricy. Except of course the energizing atmosphere; we really miss that.

I don’t buy the “not set up” part. It’s a normal wire and every CU can wire money.

On the mess ups. I have had 3 friends have that issue with checks and it caused them to effectively “front” huge dollars for several days so they didn’t miss delivery while Tesla “looked” for the check and spoke with the CU, etc.

There are some CUs, like Alliant, that have made a specific business out of Tesla loans and their process is super smooth. BUT, today, Alliant’s best rate is 2.49%. You have to go with someone who has done a lot of Teslas if you want to be sure it will be smooth.

Yeah, I'll have to pay for a parking lot as well, so trying to minimize the monthly insurance expenses. I hope that once a VIN is assigned I'll be able to get a better rate. Thanks for sharing!
