At what point of the year is the model y going to be considered a 2022 model?

The December 2020 builds were listed as model year 2021, with no discernible differences from the November 2020 builds. That was the first year Tesla started doing that so no idea what happens this year.

Had my EDD pushed back to September this morning.

Spoke with an SA since I was in the area and he basically said because of the auto part shortage it’s looking more likely that most Ys are going to be delayed about 2-4 weeks.

dunno how much truth that is but take it with a grain of salt and wanted to share the info I received.

MYLR, blue, black, 19”, 5 seat, no tow, fsd 5/24 order date

Don’t put so much thought into it. Just be positive a lot of SA have wrong information. You need to find the good one.

Any of you know (or have experience) if the 3D maxpider floor mats can be placed on top of the OEM carpet mats instead of replacing them? I don't have a ton of storage room so I prefer to put them on top, but I'm unsure if that creates a fit issue (or if it's negligible). Thanks in advance!

It is home delivery. My SA responded this morning saying they unmatched my VIN, as requested, even though “he’s not supposed to do that”. I guess only delivery specialist are supposed to do that. My SA is not at the SC where I’m picking up and although the VIN momentarily disappeared from my account, moments later it is still tied to me (and preventing me from being re-matched to another VIN).

I went to the SC in person to sort this out and am glad I did. I saw the car in person and it has several flaws that I would have rejected anyways, just like what someone else probably already did. There is a dent in the rear hatch, the hood is misaligned, no HEPA filter of course, and the hood hinges have paint peeling off.

I am definitely glad to wait for another VIN. I don’t know how correct the folks at the Rocklin SC are but they’re telling to prepare to go back to the end of the queue. At first one of them even scared me by saying I would have to pay new current pricing if I unmatched and rejected this VIN, which makes no sense. Anyways, I confirmed with them to please unmatch me ASAP. It is surprising that they can’t do it on the spot. I received some explanation about how I matching places the car in holding and the then have to match it to someone else before they can unmatch me.

Hmmm. That is my configuration. Wht/black int, 19 tow 5 seat. Also rocklin, order may 25. Kinda hoping they don’t try to match me given your assessment, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did. Assuming they fix the dent and alignment, I might be able to live without bio, but I would rather have a car without so many issues right off the bat. Keep us informed on your new edd or what the sc and sa have to say on new wait time.

Dropped by my local Tesla showroom today and since I don't have an SA I talked with the first one that talked with me. He was friendly and when I explained that I wanted a delivery update he immediately went to his laptop and used his internal tool to look up my car. Based on what he was seeing, he said my #teamblue would be built on ~8/18 and delivered at the end of August. And that was that.

Based on what he was seeing, he said my #teamblue would be built on ~8/18 and delivered at the end of August. And that was that.

Great data point for me since my order date is the same as yours, except black color for mine.

Will do. I am a little shocked they tried to deliver the dent (was scheduled for Monday). Maybe they could get a paintless dent repair guy in before then but who knows. They definitely knew about the issues as the red “broken” and pink circles were written by them on the car itself, not edited by me in photos.

The attitudes of the three employees I spoke to were “there are so many people that want your car”, they expect someone will gladly accept it, defects and all, and be willing to deal with it after delivery. One asked me specifically what was wrong with it (uh, even though they already marked up and highlighted the problem areas). Their response to the defects was simply “sorry”. Keep in mind, I like the staff at the Rocklin SC and only had good experiences with the sales, delivery, and service teams with our Model S. Model Y experience is not off to a good start.

EDD = Estimated Delivery Disorder

Our EDD disappeared for our May 8th order this morning as well as the rest of #teamblue it seems. Had held steady for a week at sept 19-30, but the last time I lost an EDD like this it came back with Sept instead of June... I did check the Trade in on our hybrid again because we weren't able to sell the other day and its gone up again so silver lining I guess.

I ordered a blue MYLR on 6/6...EDD has been holding steady at 8/13 - 9/2 for the past few days (just checked and it's still the same)

My car has finally made it to the service center! But the service center doesn’t have anybody that can inspect it or detail it today even though they’re open for another four hours so I have to pick it up on Monday at noon. But at least I know it’s at the service center and I can get it on Monday yay.

She's perfect! 3 miles, Bioweapons Defense Mode, USB stick, no mud flaps, no PPF. We had two Teslas already and know what to look for and have not found any issues.

Another question for those who have received VINs…

Did you receive an email or text indicating a VIN was available? The VIN showed up on my Tesla account, but it has been crickets elsewhere.

First time it magically appeared online. 2nd and 3rd times I received an email to check my account (though I’m pretty sure I saw it in my account before I checked my email).

She's perfect! 3 miles, Bioweapons Defense Mode, USB stick, no mud flaps, no PPF. We had two Teslas already and know what to look for and have not found any issues.

So i have the 3D Maxpider floor mats (dont have the car they go in but thats just a minor detail). Going solely off the looks of the mats (which look awesome sitting on my garage floor, not in a MYLR MSM ordered 6/6) they seem to have a velcro-like bottom, i assume to keep them in place. Not sure if that helps but for what its worth, its what I got!

to think, i was worried the car would come in before the mats

Quick question, if I somehow find an inventory car with FSD, is it possible to cancel the FSD from the inventory car?
If so, is FSD the only thing I can strip away?

I have a vanilla config order (LR, white/black, 5 seat, no tow/no FSD) but I’m down to take whatever possible

i think tesmanian mats are a different brand. The 3D Maxpider (?) brand are pretty highly reviewed, just pricey. Ordered through RPM Tesla cause they were $50 cheaper and supposedly updated for the 2021 model sizing (?). Like all things Tesla apparently though, the mats arrived a month later than when I was told.

I do plan on getting the Tesmanian trunk and rear seat back protector mats though, those look nice.

Omg congrats! I was on the same build date but mine is white on black! Hopefully some good luck here too for me end of August!!

The people I talked to at that showroom were all awesome! Super helpful when I went to pickup yesterday. Service manager even came over and introduced himself.
