Curt Hitch Install Question

2020 sr+ . Curt 31449 didnt fit. Had to return it. Wasted many hours.
Just installed Curt 31449 on my April 2019 SR+. None of the bumper re-installations issues. The advice on re-insallation help a ton. Started in the middle underneath then worked both sides separately.
I did have a HELL of a time trying to install the crash bar. I followed the standard instructions to install the hitch to the car then install the crash bar but the bolts would not line up with the outer crash bar holes so I could tighten the middle and lower bolts due to them not flush with access holes. I worked it 2 hours. on the car and got real fed up. Took the hitch off the car and after some real effort I just managed to get it on and torque it to spec. Then installed the tow hitch with mounted crash bar to the car.

I did not have the access panel but I did have the tow wiring which I routed down to the hitch for future consideration. Cancellation of my model Y order after 2 months forced my hand to install a tow hitch to my Model 3 for my 75 pound Voltbike.

Has anyone tried part #11581 on a 2019? 11581 seems to be the semi-newer version from what I gather. I want the 1 1/4" receiver. #11571 seems to be the old model that was crap, so not going with that.

It seems to be listed in a handful of places, twice on etrailer. Once for 2020 and once for 2019

Then also:

Home Depot

CURT Class 1 Trailer Hitch with 1-1/4 in. Receiver-11581 - The Home Depot

Has anyone tried this install combination? Again, 2019 M3 SR. If so, which site did you order from? I'd like to lean toward amazon as I think I have a few gift cards.

Update: I found that with the CURT hitch 2 " combined with my Maxxhaul Bicycle rack I was only getting about 5-6" of clearance. I wasn't comfortable with that amount as I have to travel up and down a steep entranceway at my country cottage. So I bought from amazon a "
Meyer FHK45054 Receiver Hitch Extension with 4" Drop/Rise, Black"
https://www.amazon.com/Meyer-FHK45054-Receiver-Hitch-Extension/dp/B007448NC2/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Meyer+FHK45054+Receiver+Hitch+Extension+with+4"+Drop/Rise,+Black&qid=1601040015&sr=8-1

It fits perfectly with middle hole. I also use

Hitch Tightener, Heavy Duty Anti-Rattle Stabilizer for 1.25" and 2" Hitches

https://www.amazon.com/YaeMarine-Tightener-Anti-Rattle-Stabilizer-Hitches/dp/B082XYK1TW/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Hitch+Tightener,+Heavy+Duty+Anti-Rattle+Stabilizer+for+1.25"+and+2"+Hitches&qid=1601040366&sr=8-3

on both the adapter connection to the curt hitch and my bicycle rack to the adapter to remove any unnecessary clucking and rattles.

I took a chance on the Curt 13449 for my 09/2019 M3 and am having the same interference issue (If I force the bumper it has bulges underneath and pulls the bumper away from the quarter panel). I separated the bumper from the panel to be sure, and I marked the hitch where it was interfering. It was also touching the trunk box and body on both sides so it needs thicker nylon washers.

It seems possible to raise the hitch a half inch or remove material in the area marked, but either modification has risks. Regardless it needs to be redesigned. Hope these pictures help someone.
