I couldn't find any commercial dog barriers for the MY that meet all of the requirements that I have. We own 2 Basenjis that are super active, excitable 25 lb escape artists who cannot deal with being isolated in the backs of cars where they can't see their people. Also, I can't just pop the hatchback to let them out as trying to corral 2 hyper Basenjis who are dying to run can be a disaster on the road. So I decided to build one that works for the MY. It gives them full view of the front of the car, gives me some space for luggage behind the front seats, and provides a safe way of unloading them from the side rear door where only one dog can exist at a time. What's funny is that I've built similar barriers for other cars we've owned using the same materials but my wife was insistent that "it look good this time." She's never been vain about cars in the past but for some reason (likely the price), she didn't want a dog barrier that looked like it was hacked together by McGuyver. She approved of the results this time.
