Customize number of panels?

I tried searching with no luck. Will tesla install extra panels? The 8 kW system is just barely covering my usage. I think a 9-10 kW system would be perfect for me. 12 kW is overkill. (Plan on getting 2 powerwalls to if that makes any difference)

Unless there has been a change in policy, you should be able to customize the number of panels after placing an order with a standard size selected - you should be able to let your advisor know you want a new design with more/fewer panels as soon as one is assigned to you.

I can confirm that as of ~1 week ago they at least will try to add panels to your design if you ask your advisor directly and there is room on your roof for them. Unfortunately for me I could not add panels due to fire setbacks.

Order one size up from what you think you will need. I ordered the max, and then worked with the advisor to fit the most in the roof area I wanted. They prorated the price down.
