The first CT deliveries are still a long way off, but I thought we would get a head start on the pre-delivery checklist. Here is what I have so far:
- Check the VIN. Ensure the vehicle was not built at Fremont, or at end-of-quarter.
- Check the body for paint, ensure there is none.
- Check the glass for damage.
- If the glass is not damaged, hit it with a large steel ball.
- Test the driver's door. Remember to bring your 10lb sledgehammer.
- Repeat on all 4 doors.
- Open and close the vault. Stand on it.
- Blow on the roof, verify it does not fly off.
- Check all bolts with a torque wrench.
- Check interior for dirt and smudges. Collect fingerprints if needed.
- Look for any error messages on the main display screen. If present, press down on the brake, accelerator, both steering-wheel buttons, and hold your breath for 5 minutes.
- Run the A/C, verify the "factory-fresh" vinegar smell.
- Pair your phone. Verify that "Summon" ignores you.
- Verify the UMC is present, with all included adapters.
- Plug the UMC into the vault outlet, and verify it can charge itself.
- After charging, verify battery degradation of at least 1%.
- Open the frunk. Close it if you can. Use sledgehammer as needed.
- Check interior for snug panels. Loosen one if needed.
- Check for side mirrors. If present, remove them.
- Check for windshield wipers. If present, remove them.
- Press the horn in the center of the steering wheel down to test. Repeat for 1 hour.
- Turn on the sound system. Verify you can receive both Fox News and MSNBC.
- Measure the panel gaps. Verify they are "within spec" (any value will do).
- Open the glove box, if you can figure out how.
