I looked through the entire thread, and the lowest RN# I have seen is 1127441XX (there are actually four RN# here that are all in the 112744xxx range, so I think it is a very reliable number. So let's use 112744100 for the calculation, even though that it is highly possible that lowest RN# start at 112740000.

And the highest RN# I have seen here is 1128822xx. So let's just use 112882200 as the highest so far.

So 112882200 - 112744100 = 138100 reservation (Assuming RN# are sequential)

I saw 112888150 on Instagram, so... 144k reservations and rising.

Alright, using 112888150 - 112744100 = 144,050 reservation (Assuming RN# are sequential)

Why does that matter? People only had to put $100 refundable deposit down.

So if you take 170k “preorders” and subtract the double/triple orders from the same person and/or trend followers who either really can’t afford it or aren’t buying it, then calculate a 20% at best of those orders that will actually be followed up with 2+ years from now, at best you’re looking at 20k trucks.

But hey, 500,000 preorders will sound pretty good during the earning reports, even though we know it’s false.

15-20% sounds about right.

I assume that same logic applies to the rivian, mach e, and taycan pre orders as well?
$100 for a reservation is more like Tesla is testing the waters..Isn't Rivian wanting 1k? Granted its refundable, but clearly Tesla is looking for sheer numbers to show demand, not actual buyers. When i told people at my work I reserved a Cybertruck, they didn't get the minimal commitment I gave, only that I reserved one which in their mind meant I bought one.
