Cyclones vs Slipstreams

I know Cyclons were $2500 extra and Slipstreams are just base wheels since 2016, do you think going from Cyclons to Slipstreams is a downgrade, I also notice Slipstreams are about 1lb lighter than Cyclons (according to UP website)

Cyclons are by far my favorite Tesla wheels. Slipstreams are so meh, totally basic. My 85D has cyclons and I love it. The fact that they were discontinued just makes me like them more.

Yep. My previous MS had Cyclones and my new one Slipstreams. Tried hard to get Tesla to swap wheels (and keep their new tires!) but they refused. Slipstreams look like the plastic hubcaps that are imitating alloys. Cyclones look so much better.

This is true. Because they look like hubcaps you don’t have to (can’t) clean the inner wheel area. But when this is cleaned, combined with the more open look, Cyclones give the car a really pristine upscale look that Slipstreams can’t match.

I don't think it's a downgrade, but I do think the slipstreams look better in sonic carbon or black, feels less like a hub cap. I have 21 inch cyclones for summer and 19 inch slipstreams for winter. I like them both equally, obviously prefer the 21s for aesthetic reasons but the 19s still look great imo.

I liked the Slipstream early on but in person they look "heavy" if that makes sense. Instead I opted for the 19" Arachnid replica from Tsportline and love it. No, you don't. You have 21" Turbine wheels. They don't have the unequal spacing that Cyclones have but are otherwise quite similar.

I like the cyclones a lot for the looks but the slipstreams are more aerodynamic so I use them for longer road trips. If I’m not planning any long trips for a while I install the cyclones which in my case are painted grey and look awesome on a black car.

The weird spacing of the cyclones always bugged me, so my vote goes to the slipstreams (although I'm not that crazy bout the fat "rim" area). Sadly, my 21" rims sit unused with brand new PS2s...just a bit too loud for me.

Love my cyclones. Bought them aftermarket for a song. Wouldn’t have paid $2500 for them but I need to run 19” wheels and they stand out in a sea of slipstreams. I get a lot of questions about them at Superchargers - lots of people don’t even know they exist.

I have the cyclones and love them because the “odd” spacing makes it easier to actually clean the wheel inside without having to take the wheel off.

oddly enough I thought I had the slip streams (bought used) until I purchased the old 5 spoke wheels for my winters and the guy I was buying them from educated me.

The Arachnids are the best looking Tesla OEM wheel design IMO. I have the factory forged variant and even in a 21” staggered set-up, they weigh less than the Slipstreams; I do prefer the Slipstreams to the other two kit wheels though.

i ve seen Bjorn video on youtube where he says that cyclone give 1.5% at 110Km/h more autonomy compared to "normal wheels"
so i don't know about sleepstreams , anyone tested ?

Then You have to use PZeros in either the TO/VOL/LS configuration. Super silent, and amazing comfort even the ones without foam inlay (PNCS).

They don't appear to be available with the foam in the Tesla sizes (note: mine are staggered). The well-reviewed Michelin PS4s are, of course, available with the foam. I am running the 19" slipstreams with the foam now and am happy with the noise level (well, as happy as I can be with the noise level in Teslas).

Sorry to revive an old thread, but do you know how much more aerodynamic the slipstream wheels might be than the cyclones? They look like they would be similarly aerodynamic, maybe 0.5-1.0% edge to the slipstreams, though that's a wild guess.

I think it would be pretty difficult to measure a statistically significant difference between the two.
