Dash Cam Wiring 2013

So, I've had my dash cam in my 12v plug... since I got it.

Then I thought I'd get a USB cable instead, because it's smaller.

Now I'm thinking I'd like to run the camera 24x7 off the car.

However, my 2013 doesn't have that 'hot' tap that the newer ones do..

who here has found 12v that's near the spot of the dash cam?

Are those little lights near the rearview hot all the time?

I could tap one of those by pulling that cover up front? How does that remove?

I would use the "unused" OBD II port on the underside of the dash above the dead pedal. Amazon has many OBD II to USB cables.

I have a right angle one and you cannot see it or the wire at all.

Yep. I removed the screw forward of the port to make it easier to get the wire to the door jam area and from there it just a matter of tucking the cord around trim panels.

I ordered a Mini and I kept getting a micro. It was not a Amazon problem, they are packaged incorrectly.
