What are peoples thoughts on relying solely on the Model X's cameras? I've seen a number of posts saying that they've either lost or been unable to find recordings so I'm considering if an aftermarket dash cam is worth it?

Not necessary IMO. I have one, but it was installed long before Tesla's built-in software was available. I will not be installing one again on any future Teslas I might buy.

Be sure you use a high quality and fast USB stick or a portable SSD. I have been using a Samsung USB 3.1 drive and have not had any issues. People also have good luck with Samsung T7s.
