Web browser is always available, no matter the drive mode. I've used the browser with waze for 5.5 years, mostly works, and I have an old MCU1 car!
You are correct, the browser is available but the WiFi is turned off. So I wonder how you can access the Internet?
I *think* I've heard people say that once you're in Drive, you can reconnect wifi again. I believe people that don't want to pay premium data do this on a regular basis...
Wow, is that the only OBD2 link hardware that works with IOS? I have the one that I bought with my Android version and would like to switch to IOS so I don't have to lug along an android phone just to use the app... Thanks.
When you shift a Tesla into drive, the car drops existing WIFI connections and switches to 4g LTE cell network (3g in my case). You can then immediately choose WIFI and the car will stay connected to the WIFI as long as it's in range, and that can be for the entire drive if you use a hotspot feature on your phone to provide WIFI to the Tesla.
Need to check with scan my Tesla developer. It was said other options are available for iOS customer. However, I am not very sure of it. I only used this kind of OBD2 hardware so far. It should be the most stable as far as I knew.
The better steps for using Wi-Fi during drive: 1 park the car 2 change it into Drive mode 3 the Wi-Fi will be disconnected now 4 manually start the Wi-Fi connection to iPhone or Android hotspot 5 drive the car, and if the Wi-Fi is still needed, do not put the cat into Park mode
