Dashcam feature in V9

Pretty simple.
  • Make sure you car is AP 2.5.
  • Get a USB drive stick.
  • Format it to Fat32.
  • On the drive create a folder called "TeslaCam" (no quotes. Note casing).
  • Insert drive into the car's USB slot.
  • You should see camera icon with a red dot on the main screen. Red indicates recording. Push the camera icon to toggle recording state.
  • Limitations. Currently front camera only. There is a new file created every minute or so and frames can be dropped during change to writing to new file. Front camera is not wide angle. Only works when car is powered, so not running when parked.

Why AP2.5 and not 2.0? I would have thought it was an MCU thing. Both AP versions have a front facing camera, so why cannot both record?

Also, how hard is it to record rear facing too?
