Dashcam install - use OBD port or hardwire to fuse panel?

Got a 2013 Model S with an OBD port and purchased a Vantrue N2 Pro for forward and in-cabin viewing. Besides the 12V cigarette lighter port, there are two ways to hardwire the dashcam - plugged into the OBD port or hardwired to the battery.

Which would be safer or recommended?

NewI have no idea about the camera you are using or your car model year but this is the guide I used to install blackvue.
