Dashcam Unavailable Check USB

Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with a message being thrown stating that the Dashcam Is unavailable, check USB.
This just started happening. So I formatted the USB drive and enabled/disabled the Dashcam and the red X disappeared but came back again with the same message. Pulled the drive and viewed it on my pc and recent files have been written to it.
Anyone?

I just noticed that after I reboot my 2020 LRMY because of the USB storage issue with version 2022.12.3.2 that the Climate Control dashboard vent settings are changed. The direction of the airflow of the driver's dashboard vent moves down to the bottom of the vehicle and to one corner. After you reboot version 2022.12.3.2 check your Climate Control vent settings.

Haven’t had this issue after I reboot, yet.

For me a simple remove and re-insert the usb drive works fine.

This will needs to be fixed What a PITA.

It seems to be fixed after reinsert, but if I then try to view a video the entire sub window goes black - not even the UI displays.

Wow, thanks. I thought it was just me. My drovers vent went up into my face, and it even seemed to not be targeting the correct temperature !

OF ALL THE TIMES my Samsung SSD drive got this error with Sentry, it was after someone parked next to me and dinged my car. MY GOD SO FRUSTRATING. I've never once had this error, nor had trouble loading any Sentry clips. The one time I needed it, it f*cked up.

For me the Dashcam viewer takes about 3 minutes to load. So it sites there for some time before it actually loads to the UI where you can select Sentry / Dashcam recordings.

That's how it's been for me also if I re-seat the USB and then try to view clips.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I picked up my model 3 in Jan 2022. I started getting this error late April I believe. It’s so frustrating that I have to format almost everyday before I drive.

Just to clarify, is the solution people proposed is to get a new usb drive?

Reboot your touchscreen. That works for me.

Tesla tech informed me it might be fixed with 2022.16 but that would be cool if 12.3.12 does

In my opinion, that doesn't seem promising. Prior to 2022.12.x, my vehicle never even once had a red X on the dashcam icon. I believe they'll need to fix it in the next release such as 2022.13.x or whatever.

You’re probably right, especially since 12.3.12 was already in existence when the red X issue started.

Reporting back: my friend and yours, the Red X, has returned. We will have to wait for an update beyond 12.3.12 for a fix.

I have not had red x in 3 days. Weird. I did notice my dashcam usb was full , infotainment said so. I erased a lot of saved dashcam clips . Not sure fit hat helpedcwith stability. I see a lot of “interesting” events in Los Angeles so I was saving clips manually.

Thecdashcam will cleanup the recent and sentry events but not my manually saved dashcam clips. Then again perhaps my suggestion will not help as many tried formatting. In my odd case, usb devices (glove box usb & center usb) are stable again…famous last words.

Interestingly, after upgrading to 2022.12.3.2 from .1 my goes away when the car wakes up at first drive. It has done so reliably each day since the update. I have the dashcam icon in the tray so I can always see it.

I had the same for a while but today I had to perform the old trick of removing the usb for 15 seconds...reinserting it. Here's hoping 2022.16.x addresses this annoyance.

Did Elon just tweet about this problem? Or is he referring to something else?

Problem arose from optimizing application performance. Use of Linux page cache caused increasing memory fragmentation, eventually preventing mounting of dashcam. Patch to filesystem driver fixes this. Update coming soon.
