Dashcam: usb drive is full

I got this message using a micro sd with USB adapter. Turned out to be the sd setup. I tried doing everything and I still didn’t work. Put my SSD back in and haven’t had a problem since. Started working immediately.

I've seen multiple reputable people say exfat works, but it definitely doesn't in my car, so there may be some hardware change they made at some point that allows it to work somehow. I don't understand how that could be the case, but maybe it is. I've tried, multiple times, formatting to exfat, both on windows and macs, and it just doesn't work. Although there was that one time someone swore up and down that exfat worked, and i asked him to send me a screen shot of the properties for that drive, and it was clearly formatted Fat32.

I suspect some people are conflating exFAT with FAT32 and that their drives are actually formatted as the latter.
