David McCowen says the DBX 707 is the faster SUV in the world, he's wrong....

Why does David McCowen continually get to mislead facts? His latest is that the Aston Martin DBX 707 is the worlds fastest SUV, which is misleading as most would assuming 0-100, not top speed.

Here are some better facts:
  1. The DBX 707 would not be able to overtake the Model X Plaid until +200km/hr is reached
  2. The Model X Plaid will reach 100km/hr 20% faster than the DBX 707
  3. The Model X Plaid will rip a new one on the DBX 707 in all take offs at any speed under 150km/hr
  4. The Model X is some 2-2.5 times cheaper to purchase
  5. The Model X will seat 7 people (not 4)
  6. The Model X could probably tow a trailer with the DBX 707 on it and still beat the 0-100 times of the DBX 707
These are better metrics....

Nothing you said is incorrect but they're not technically wrong. A top speed of 310km/h is faster than 262km/h on the Model X Plaid, therefore by pure definition of the word, it is the fastest SUV. However as you've mentioned, it is certainly not the quickest.

And that is where I think legally they can go and claim such an accolade without any ramifications

A few things.

1. In the car world, fastest is generally accepted to mean top speed, quickest is a term generally used for acceleration, so in this sense, Aston Martin Marketing is correct, the 707 is about 5kmh faster than the Lamborghini Urus and takes the crown (until the updated performance Urus and Ferrari SUV breaks cover).

2. Aston Martin is struggling to stay alive. This was supposed to be a V12, but instead they just put bigger turbos on the DBX V8. Marketing department is going crazy promoting this thing, claiming it's the most powerful 'luxury' SUV. But the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has more power, the Plaid has more power, and the Plaid is quicker all the way up to it's top speed.
