I heard from my delivery specialist this morning, and Tesla is making a pricing-adjustment to Premium Package liftgate etc option. It's moving to $3000 and will be re-named "Premium Interior & Lighting". Should be live on the Ordering tool within about 24 hours.

I wonder how they'll handle the Alacantara with the P85D orders? If it's standard for the P85D, which it is on the website now, will they reduce the Premium Interior and Lighting cost even further to reflect that?

That sounds good but I will believe it when I see the Model S Design Studio page change.

Presuming true, it shows what can be done in a company as nimble and responsive as Tesla with something such as option packaging and pricing. Instead of spending months (years) on market research, they can literally do it on the fly.

I appreciate the adjustment today, but really, at this price the power lift gate absolutely should be standard. Could buy three Ford Escapes with it and still have $$$ left over. Even if I can afford it, I don't like the feeling of being squeezed or taken advantage of.

And now I believe it.

I'm happy that Tesla has obviously responded to the torrent of complaints posted here. At $3K I think that option is worth it and if I was replacing my 2013 S85 today I would include that option.

But I am stunned that Tesla dropped the light silver paint color. It's very popular and is a color that almost every car company offers in some form.

Now we just need to get them to remove that unscrupulous 'after incentives & gas savings' prices from their website and Tesla will be back to being respectable!

I do agree that the new package is much more worth of it's price tag than before:

With the price reduction at 3k instead of 5k for a liftgate its now only 2x what it should be,

so now price is not my main problem with the Premium Package (though I still don't actually want the headliner upgrade which seems a big part of the price) -- but that you have to get the leather armrests and dashboard. I want a non-leather interior but am told you can't get the premium package and opt out of that part. Apparently you can't opt out of the leather wrapped steering while anymore either.
