Decoding Model 3 Option Codes

I don't know if there's another thread covering this, so I'll throw in some data.

The codes are from the REST API for my car, the text is my guess:
  • AD15 - ? (AD02 means NEMA 14-50 on Model S)
  • MDL3 - Model 3
  • PBSB
  • RENA - Region North America
  • BT37 - ? Battery Type Model 3, 7x kW
  • ID3W - Interior Décor, Model 3, White
  • RF3G
  • S3PB
  • DRLH - Left-Hand Drive
  • DV2W - (similar to "DV4W All-Wheel Drive" code from Model S)
  • W39B
  • APF0 - ? Autopilot Hardware version 1 for Model 3
  • COUS - Country U.S.
  • BC3B - Brace Calipers, Model 3, version 2
  • CH07 - Model 3 charger for 7x kW
  • PC30
  • FC3P
  • FG31
  • GLFR
  • HL31
  • HM31
  • IL31
  • LTPB - (similar to LT00, LT01 interior codes from Model S)
  • MR31
  • FM3B
  • RS3H
  • SA3P
  • STCP
  • SC04 - Pay Per Use Supercharging*
  • SU3C - (similar to SU00, SU01 suspension codes from Model S)
  • T3CA
  • TW00
  • TM00 - General Production Trim
  • UT3P - (similar to UTPB, UTSB, UTZW headliner codes from Model S)
  • WR00
  • AU3P - (similar to AU00, AU01 audio codes from Model S)
  • APH3 - Autopilot Hardware, Model 3
  • AF00
  • ZCST
  • MI00 - (similar to MI00 and MI01 production codes from Model S)
  • CDM0 - No CHAdeMO Charging Adapter
* The FUSC for P was announced after the car was configured and built.

From sticker on/inside the car:
  • PPMR = Red Multi-Coat
  • DV4W = All Wheel Drive
  • BC3R = Red brake calipers
  • LTPW = Lower Trim PUR White
  • PC31 = Performance Chassis
  • W32P - 20ÖçÖÔçÖ wheels (Box/Square fit)
BC3B probably means "Base brake calipers".

Given this and some of the above info, I think the option_codes shown for my vehicle from the REST API are incorrect in a number of ways.

My Dual Motor Model 3 has option code DV2W. It states Dual Motor in the car. I don't think this code is correctly stated above.
Also ID3W could be White Headliner but my interior is black
BC3B might be right for base / black brake calipers

Dump of option codes
'option_codes': 'AD15,MDL3,PBSB,RENA,BT37,ID3W,RF3G,S3PB,DRLH,DV2W,W39B,APF0,COUS,BC3B,CH07,PC30,FC3P,FG31,GLFR,HL31,HM31,IL31,LTPB,MR31,FM3B,RS3H,SA3P,STCP,SC04,SU3C,T3CA,TW00,TM00,UT3P,WR00,AU3P,APH3,AF00,ZCST,MI00,CDM0'

In case it wasn't clear from the above...
The REST API reports DV2W for my car while a sticker on the car (Beatrice in my signature) itself says DV4W. There are other REST API code responses that seem "wrong" for my car as well.

These are the codes showing for my car using the Dashboard app (shown in the pic). I have a regular RWD, Red, 19in wheels, EAP, FSD options.

I run the A Better Routeplanner service where we let users login via MyTesla and optionally share data with us. For fun and statistics, I just checked the option codes for all 258 Model 3s in our database. They are all the same.

Seems like Tesla took some shortcuts on this one in production hell ;)

(Model S and X option codes are not equal and do say useful things about their individual vehicles.)

Funny, I just mentioned something similar in another thread:

FWIW, the API reports all kinds of nutty things -- my wife's blue car is black, etc. In fact, I'm a little suspicious that the API is not actually what's used by the app, at least for configuring the thumbnail, given how wrong some of the values are.

...although I hadn't previously noticed they were identical. Clearly, then, this is either not the API that the app is using, or it's using a different key that gives it different info, or it's getting the true config data elsewhere.

ETA: I'm behind on my research. Add support for new Summon APIs · Issue #16 · timdorr/tesla-api includes discussion that the official app is using a wss connection.

I have a red model 3 and the color code is supposed to be PPMR (according to Tesla paint codes) but it is set to PBSB which is color code for "black". Tesla app does recognize the color as red. How does this make sense?

My red model 3 option codes:
AD15,MDL3,PBSB,RENA,BT37,ID3W,RF3G,S3PB,DRLH,DV2W,W39B,APF0,COUS,BC3B,CH07,PC30,FC3P,FG31,GLFR,HL31,HM31,IL31,LTPB,MR31,FM3B,RS3H,SA3P,STCP,SC04,SU3C,T3CA,TW00,TM00,UT3P,WR00,AU3P,APH3,AF00,ZCST,MI00,CDM0

What color is your model 3? My red model 3 reports PBSB as paint code (which is the code for black)

From sticker on/inside the car:

I have also noticed that the option codes reported by the API are incorrect for my model 3. Specifically, the paint code is incorrectly reporting back whereas my model 3 is red. How does the Tesla app get the color right, then?

I have two Model 3's on my account, my current P3D+ in Midnight Silver and my old RWD car that i traded in 3 months ago. They still haven't removed the old car for some reason....

Anyway, the option codes that the API is returning when i call https://owner-api.teslamotors.com/api/1/vehicles are exactly the same between the two vehicles and what @rawmean posted
Thanks for the confirmation. Looks like Tesla is just returning a generic set of option codes for model 3 cars and we can't use the information for model 3.

In the past for my ICE cars, I'd plug my VIN into "Compnine.com" which lists every option by RPO code for your specific car, but when I tried that, it said my vin was not in the system. SOmeone must have a cross-reference list of Tesla RPO codes to descriptions.

HM30 means no homelink, so a I guess HM31 means with homelink?
