while I'm at it, some additional photos of the grey next gen interior which contrasts nicely with the deep blue exterior, see posts #1 and #21 in this other old thread:

Have to say the grey leather definitely contrasts w/Blue better than Black. Too bad they don't have Nacho Cheese Leather to go w/Red.

I love mine. It's only been a month but I've also gotten lots of compliments. Here's the picture after a gtechniq crystal serum application.

My last two cars were a deep blue( Audi Q7 and a Mercedes e350 wagon) I was torn between the Tesla red , silver or old blue but as I was finalizing my order the new blue came out. I couldn't have been happier as the old blue was muddy and a bit too dark. That cemented my order. I was one of the first on the east coast to get it (June 2015 P85D )according to my rep. It now seems to be perhaps one of the most popular colors. It goes well with all three interior choices, although I like the beige I got the most.

You guys with the "new face lifted" S's... How is your lower trim holding up, now that it is painted? I suspect that the areas just behind the wheels is going to be very prone to road rash and chipping?

For paint you can also try:

www.paintscratch.com

or
www.drcolorchip.com

I have used the latter on my old Lemans Blue M5, old blue Volt and my wife's passion red XC60. Here is a universal truth about touch-up paint. It is NOT invisible but chips in the color of the paint are infinitely less noticeable at normal viewing differences than white/gray primer chips. The latter are, of course, much more noticeable on cars with darker paint. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

Dr Colorchip is very good for road rash (i.e. the fine little chips you get). Work on my Blue M5 can be seen here:

Dr. Colorchip paint touch-up results - BMW M5 Forum and M6 Forums

p.s. LOVE the new blue...

Dr. Color Chip's is a perfect match IMHO and has an innovative fill-in technique that eliminates the "touch-up blob."

So as a Deep Blue Metallic guy (with cQuartz UK which darkened it quite a bit) I have to admit I look with envy to every other colour of Model S.

It seems to hide the curves more than black, somehow. I see white ones, and even red ones, and can make out the amazing Model S curves, but not as much on my own car.

But you always want what you don't have, so...

Since everyone's showing off, and yeah mine isn't facelift, but I do love her.
Day and night shot. Both taken with my phone, no special camera.
Worth mentioning that I got black headliner, black leather. I feel it goes very well with black.

But .. there is no "bad looking" Tesla.

That's interesting as even through my preference would always be for the new blue, followed by the red, I can't help but acknowledge that that the car probably shows best in the base white or pearl white as it does the best job of showing both the angles of the car and popping against the black accents. I would give the nod to the pearl white as it has more "character" and you catch more "glint" on the creases (which accentuates them). It is a "gray" pearl which is probably less offensive to me than the "cream" colored pearls out there.

Still...blue or red for me!

I'm excited about my decision of DBM for the color of my Tesla... I've seen quite a few photos on here that definitely make me content with my decision. Mind you I also tend to buy things in blue... but all my cars to this point have been black/gold... I only have had black VW for my past two vehicles as was the only way to get the tan interior. I so love the custom order with Tesla so you can get the color combo you want instead of whatever your dealer opted to order. No paying for options you don't want/need too.

To be fair, many of the other luxury manufacturers allow you to custom order cars as well.

This is true, and I could have technically custom ordered a VW but would have had to wait as long or longer than the Tesla + pay extra for not buying one on the lot. I think the key for me is like many car makers I can go to the site and customize the car, but then I can actually buy/order it and it doesn't cost anything extra.

When I got my car in '14, the dark blue was the only blue available, but my favorite blue is the LeMans Blue on my BMW M5. Over two years, I learned to like it, but it was always too dark.

So when Tesla came out with the DBM... what could I do? I wasn't going to trade-in my car.. love the P85+ too much. So (I posted about this before), I did what could do to approximate the Tesla DBM... by getting my car dipped with Autoflex and a matte/sating finish:

But it also color-shifts to a subtle purple:

Reviving an old thread that is still very relevant. 1.5 yrs ago, I wanted to go with Deep Blue Metallic on a CPO but let my wife talk me into Midnight Silver Metallic. I am now spending 2-3k going the autoflex route because I am extremely bored with MSM and want something exciting and to pop. Don't get me wrong, MSM is an extremely nice color, but it's conservative and if you want bold, you should consider DSM.
