Defective battery

I ordered my Tesla model Y performance sometime February 22 and received my delivery June 8 2022 and 72 hrs later my brand new car is no use to me, Tesla delivered me a car with a defective battery, the front motor was disabled a little after 300 miles which is somewhat literally a full charge, just utterly ridiculous that I have to accept a vehicle that was sold to me with a defective battery, there is no composition for there wrong doing just go through the app and make and appointment for service. I wasn’t even offered a loaner vehicle, only we’ll contact you through the app when your car is ready for pick up. I’m trying to figure out where is the enjoyment from purchasing a Tesla, if anyone else out has experienced this same situation please let me know what you’re resolution with Tesla was please thank you.

no need to hate on someone with a bad experience. Usually they do a good job at fixing the issue pretty quickly. It does happen though. I've seen people needing to talk to a manager if it doesn't get resolved but since the car is so new they should fix it fast and it should be the only issue with the tesla

I haven't been in your situation, but I have a couple comments that may help:
  • Check out the lemon laws for your state. I think most states allow three major repairs before you can declare it a lemon.
  • Tesla tries to push you into accepting Uber credits, but apply enough pressure, and you may be able to get a loaner out of them. My wife made them, shall we say, uncomfortable to the point that they rented a Model S for her to use while her car was in the service center. You have every right to be upset. I recommend being polite but firm in telling them you need a loaner, and they should take responsibility for creating your predicament.
Regardless, I wish you the best. No one should have to endure this, but no one is perfect, not even Tesla. Hopefully they will make it right.

This is not routine service or a minor repair. Tesla Service should provide you with a loaner vehicle or a rental voucher.

This "bot" just went on a 3 post rant, and none of it makes sense

The dealership told Benito1283 that’s what’s needs to be replaced

The dealership told Benito1283?

A bot Benito I just put my John hand cock down on a 70k vehicle that’s no use to me after 72 hours wth are you talking about bot smh….

John Hand Cock? is that some porn name? I think you mean John Hancock.

------------------------------------------------------

You gotta admit that looks pretty crazy especially with a new account. That said, you'll be fine. Stuff happens, cars under warranty for 4yrs (more than most car companies).

Tha_Ape have you ever purchased a brand new car that needed repairs 72 hours later. The majority of driving I’ve had in the vehicle was from the dealership to my home and back to the dealership, just take a moment and picture that.

A bot or not, changing battery takes less than 15 mins. It is not even minor repair. Tech might take forever to get your car to work on, but the actual work will be very quick.
No car is perfect and you happened to pick up the bad battery one. Consider yourself lucky because there are many worse stories out there.

mine did too... but mine were cosmetic. I put "bot" in quotes on purpose. I don't actually think you're one.

I'd surely be pissed, but it'll get fixed and if you don't like the car you'll easily sell it for more than you paid

I believe we are discussing a bad lithium battery pack. The replacment battery pack must be pulled off of the assembly line or taken from inventory and shipped to the Tesla Service Center. This would take at least a week. Installation is not a 15 minute process, probably the better part of a day.

Tesla should have offered you Uber credits at least. Anyhow, After your car has been in the shop for 1.5 weeks ask for a loaner. Then try at 2 weeks. If it seems like your car will take a while to repair, they will most likely get a loaner. Tesla service center (SC) doesn’t seem to keep loaners on hand and gets them from hertz or elsewhere at least in Los Angeles. My loaner model S from January wreaked of trashy perfume 😬.

The dealership told me (not Benito1283) that’s what’s needs to be replaced
Did tTesla specify high voltage battery or 12 volt lithium ion battery? If they just said lithium ion battery, they probably meant 12 volt battery. Most likely your high voltage battery is fine. My car had same error after 1 month of ownership and error occurred when tesla was driving my car back from body shop they sent car to in order to fix panel gaps/alignment. Tesla thought it was a bad 12 volt battery. Turned out the Body shop which tesla sent my car to left the frunk open with access panel removed and Los Angeles had an unpredicted heavy rain (it hardly rains here). I noticed this when viewing my car via the app. I figured they had left frunk not closed full by accident rather than fully open with access panel removed. Anyhow, the moisture somehow damaged a low voltage control module which caused tesla computer to be very cautious and enable turtle mode and instructed driver to pull over asap. Took tesla 2 weeks to pin point the error and had to wait 4 days for parts and 2 days for them to install new part and perform quality check.
Good luck. You can communicate with Tesla advisor via the app. They tend to respond once a day from my past experience.

Yeah, Tesla is the only new car where you could have an issue that prevents you from driving it.... It sucks but it will be repaired and be good as new (or in your case, better than new...).
