Deferring my order until forum members start to take delivery of their Sig's

@Discoducky It seems like Tesla is trying hard to hit your 9/13 window. There are at least three forum members that have received their cars and a bunch are scheduled for next week. From the delivery thread it seems pretty clear that there has been a production ramp up. And a whole lot more have been given a fairly firm delivery date for this month.

Did any of that alleviate your fears? Or are you still deciding?

Just curious. And good luck.

I don't think there will be a full review for a while... If they have their cars they are probably too busy enjoying them. I think we all know of the cars capabilities, which is probably why every journalist is focused on range. What else is there to worry about aside from fit and finish (which Elon is inspecting).

We have yet to see a final production car interior. Is the pano roof screen in yet? Is it mandatory? Optional? Badging? What is the NAV like? Has there been a final decision made on the hill-hold feature, or do we need to use two feet when stopped on a steep hill?

Elon's car was pre-production and I've read all the other subforums. It's not all that important to me, I was just pointing out a few of the current unknowns. VIN #70 shows no badging on the rear, but the side lights are probably engraved with "Signature".

Still deciding, but the reports from this thread Our first 18 hours with the model S

are really helping. I actually like to hear about the faults and flaws as it makes me feel more comfortable about the sincerity of the message. Nothing is going to be perfect, I just want to know where the imperfections lie to set my expectations. A flaw in the nav is no big deal, but a flaw in the power steering system would be. The charging adapter issue is interesting and more or less expected but a bummer for those who experience issues charging.

Really hope GB posts a blog update or an owner takes some time and posts a full report.

Things I'd still like to hear from owners:
1. How are the handles and doors working?
2. How is driving at night with the Xenon headlights, LCD screens and interior lighting?
3. Has anyone driven in the rain to be able to test the windshield glare, wet road handling at higher speeds and windshield wipers? (Yeah, I live in Seattle and it's important)
4. There are a ton of other things, but nearly all are on the punch list.

I must say, I admire your restraint. I'd probably take this thing with chipping paint, squeaky brakes, and wobbly wheels at this point...regardless the cost. Just been such a long and highly anticipated wait it's hard to imagine delaying a day longer than necessary. But your approach is wise, particularly considering the amount of money we're talking about.

Good questions. Initial reactions:
1. How are the handles and doors working?
Flawlessly so far. They don't open on approach, but rather on double clicking the fob or tapping the handle (if the car is unlocked)

2. How is driving at night with the Xenon headlights, LCD screens and interior lighting?
Headlights seem great. Drove several hours at night so far. Interior lighting is good too. The ambient lights are really cool (in doors for example). The LCD doesn't adjust automatically at night as much as I'd like. They seem to have thought of this as I could set the right steering wheel dial to control the screen brightness, which worked well.

3. Has anyone driven in the rain to be able to test the windshield glare, wet road handling at higher speeds and windshield wipers? (Yeah, I live in Seattle and it's important)
not me. Most I got was a few sprinkles. I did discover I need to adjust the cleaner nozzles upward.

Congrats on your delivery. I have a couple questions:

1. Did you get the pano-roof? If you did, can you provide feedback/comments on the shade and/or pictures?
2. Please comment on the interior, in general. Many have commented on the interior from test rides and pictures. It would be useful to hear the perspective of an actual owner after several miles.
3. Did Tesla provide any information regarding the internet connection? Did they mention if it is 4G capable?

Dadaleus's pic in the Our first 18 hours with the model S thread shows the "Signature" engraving on the rear:

Personally, I want the P85 badge on the back, I rather liked it.

No shade for the Pano. I asked about that today and was told they decided against it in favor of headroom. That said, in full bright California sun, I didn't even notice the light from above because it's so darkly tinted. But the kids did comment on the beautiful view of the sky.

I'm very happy with quality of the interior, but I'm looking forward to opportunity consoles. I'm in the camp that prefers more storage and cup holders.

I asked about 4G and was told not now, but didn't get a clear answer on whether it's upgradable. It also doesn't have wifi right now, but I was told that would come via software later. (If the my delivery specialist understood correctly, this would imply the hardware is in there, it just isn't enabled yet.) Bummer is with no wifi I can't even use my mifi hotspot to speed things up. The map load speed was okay. When driving you'd never notice because it loads as it goes, but if you start zooming way in or out or moving around by hand, you do notice the lag. We took a country road for part of the trip and did lose connectivity for a while. Along the highway it worked flawlessly.

Since we're requesting photos, did they ever resolve the vanity mirror and lighting issues?

We should datamine the drama threads to create an issue list and get updated reporting.

The only issue that semi concerned me was the exterior panel gaps, and even those weren't going to stop my purchase. But in photos these cars are looking better than I expected. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the issues resolved themselves before we find new issues to start worrying about :)

With no wifi, how does it connect for updates? How did (or did) you get your music on?
