It's not a cat, it's a Panther. However, panther is just an all encompassing category name for leopards and jaguars. To determine which it is we'd have to assess its build, tail length and spots which distinguish the difference between leopards and jaguars. I would have to say this is a leopard simply based on what looks like are spots without spots, the latter (spots with spots) is a requirement for it to be a jaguar. More evidence is likely required (a better picture) for us to say with full certainty. It might be an ocelot, but I'm pretty confident it's not a cougar. :D:p:D:p

There're still all big fat mean cats made in a German speaking country :)

(I would consider having a better look at the red one though)

Interestingly, there was a U.S.-Chinese collaboration on a tank called the Jaguar.

A panther is not part of the Big Cat family?

A panther is not a separate breed of big cat. A panther is either a jaguar or a leopard depending on its origin (i.e. Asia/Africa vs Americas) and other characteristics like size and spots.

Let me try it another way; the genus name for jaguars and leopards is Panthera. Thus they are both referenced as panthers, though they are different in size, spotting and place or origin.

One other thing I know about a cat. It would have gotten disinterested in this thread about 27 pages ago! Now, where's my ball of string or an amazon box?

Did you know a cat has been mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska, for 15 years? His name is Stubbs.
