Preferred Delivery

Late September
We will do our best to accommodate your desired delivery time frame. Your Delivery Experience Specialist will provide you with an update on your likely delivery date as information becomes available.

I ordered my 70D in mid June, still sais Late October. My expectations are conservative though. Realistically, don't expect to get my hands on my new Tesla until mid to late November. Mine is still in the production queue. Looking forward to it. I am having my 40A single phase charger being installed in my building next week. So will be all ready. The guy installing it told me it would charge over night. My guess is that it charges at a rate of 30-40km/h.

For those with expected delivery in July and August, have you been requested by your delivery specialist for your insurance, id...etc?
Yes, I was asked to provide ID and address proof already. He introduced me to buy insurance and do the financing thr orix. But he said that my P85D will have to be approved by the TD, and delivery will be likely at the end of July to early August.

Just received email from my DS said my car is entering production this morning. He requests for document(proof of address & id). I shall call him to get his version of delivery estimation. Also got Orix's email of financing offer this Monday.

I received the e-mail from my delivery specialist also this morning.

P85D? What is the expected delivery of yours?

Why does a P85D need to be approved by the TD?

Every new model needs to be type approved. Certainly, a dual motor vs single motor would be treated as a significant change and different model.

Is the same kind of approval needed for 70D and 85D?

Probably. Depends on transport department. If Tesla are calling it a different model, then it needs type approval.

For example, see here for EPD approval list: Environmental Protection Interactive Centre : Motor Vehicle with Noise Type Approval List

Plug in "Private Car" and "Tesla" and you get:

@telegogo, mine is 85D.
@Optic, my 85D was ordered in early Mar. VIN is after you, 91xxx. My dashboard "preferred delivery" is Sep(before it's shown ETA in late Aug). Have yet talk to my DS. I guess we will receive the delivery in the same batch (hopefully, no later than early Sep).

Update after talked to my DS: He mentioned my last ETA(late Aug) delivery still valid. The "Preferred Delivery" was just a preference when I made the order.

Does it mean that once the first shipment of S70D, S85D, and SP85D have got approved by the TD, there is no need for future approval as long as the specs of the coming shipments do not vary with those of the first shipment?
