Delay switching to Reverse

Hello, over the past few weeks/months I've noticed an annoying delay between putting my foot on the brake and being able to select Reverse. I do have PIN to drive enabled so I type my PIN in first, but it seems like it always takes two tries on the stalk to get into reverse.

Is anyone else noticing this??

See this sometimes on my X as well. No biggie, it seems to always go in on my 2nd try.

It happens often to me. I think it's the switch on the stalk - it has to be pushed ALL the way to engage, and I can feel a bit of a 'click' when it finally does go into Reverse. Going from Park to Drive is less of a problem..

I find the car slower to select a gear (Drive or Reverse) when it has just been woken up from sleep. when it was already awake, for example when I go into a show for a quick stop and get back in the car, it's faster.

Happens to me too, if I select R too fast. If so, I try again it goes to R without issue. Or, it seems if I wait until the column of check lights go out and then go to R it does without issue. Gives it about a 1/2 second delay before trying R?

Happens to me too occasionally. Just get a little too quick on the draw.

Yeah, you need to give the car a chance to 'initialize' itself (self-check tests); perfectly normal. Now I wait a second after depressing the brake pedal to engage R (or D), and no more 'delay' issues.

Happens all the time for me too. For me, its because I'm too quick on the shifter after I press the brake pedal. I just train myself to pause for a moment. Basically, there is a delay from pressing the brake pedal to the car waking up enough to accept the shifter change .. seems to be about ½ second. My guess is this is deliberate so the car knows you are holding the brake pedal (rather than just hit it with your foot which then slipped off) .. possibly even federally mandated when they required pressing brake pedal before shifting for safety.

The colder it gets the slower my X switches gear.
I don't recall if I had it on my Model 3 now or not.

It will go away when it warms up
Bet you, you notice it more in the morning vs after the car has been driving a while.

I press the brake as I'm getting seated so it starts "preparing" as soon as possible

We all can get used to press the brake pedal before buckling up, and putting music, or whatever other thing you do before driving off, and car would be ready by then. Easy to deal with .
