Delayed - Stuck in Chicago

Ours was delayed too, was supposed to take delivery on July 25th but was pushed to July 28th. Mine was re-routed to KC and arrived in STL on Monday morning. But know my front bumper was damaged, they ordered a new bumper and took delivery of an almost perfect vehicle. The "nick" on the lower right-hand corner of the bumper looks like something anyone of could do so I'm grateful they were upfront with me. But it is delaying my PPF install.

Hope your pick-up went well. Our experience was good, but we ended up unmatching from the vehicle. There were a couple of concerns we had, mostly an issue with the hood. Couple of other minor paint and panel issues. Our delivery specialist actually suggested we unmatch and wait a bit for a higher VIN. He said we need to push back a little if we expected Tesla to improve QC. I appreciated his candor. We also looked over a blue Y scheduled for delivery the same day. Beautiful car, everything looked great. Unfortunately, someone elses. Most of the Ys on the lot looked good overall. Strangely, walked away content even though I will be waiting for another Y.

Sounds great! Glad to hear it! Most of the cars looked great.

I noticed a paint nib on mine. The delivery specialist said they would fix it. Probably an easy fix, but he did say they would sand it, repaint, and clear coat if it was noticeable after they removed it. Honestly not sure I would care either.

I attach a picture of the hood on mine, but you can’t really tell from the picture. In person, it looks like the hood was twisted or bent a bit. You can kind of see where it rises left of the Tesla emblem, and lower on the right. At first he thought it was a misalignment issue, but after he messed with Adjustments a bit, it became apparent it was a bigger issue. It seemed like getting a new hood would take longer than a new VIN.

Overall, He said the paint and panel gap issues were getting better on the Y, but he hadn’t seen the hood issue like on my car. Usually, just something that needs adjusted not twisted like this one. In any event, he suggested we unmatch and get a new VIN. I really was happy overall with my experience, and I understand these things happen. 37922345-1EFE-4ED6-A694-80877EEE50DF.jpegE0289DBC-5D7B-48C4-AC5F-60DA08A8666E.jpeg

Yours looks like a speck of paint dropped on top of the clear coat. Mine is a spec under the clear coat. I’m concerned it would look worse if they have to sand, paint, and clear coat. I’ll probably just leave it be. Other than the hood and paint dropping was everything else good with yours? Could you have taken delivery and have the hood replaced?

Only other issue was the rear drivers side door was misaligned, leaving a slight gap that appeared to not completely seal. He wasn’t sure if they could realign it. By the time we were there to pick up, the service department was closed. So no way to check with them on any issues, including the hood.

He said if we unmatched, they could get us into a new VIN fairly quickly. He suggested we un-match and get a different one rather than repair. When he suggested that, my wife and I simply agreed.
