Deliveries to Denver, December 2019

Got out stealth today, the car is unbelievable!! More than we ever hoped for. The delivery process....well..next time I will go with a different head space. No expectations.. no disappointments. We were there way too long, got there at 9:30am which was the time of the appointment, the car was in the front and ready to go. Waited about 30 minutes and someone grabbed us for the orientation, that took 10 minutes and then we waited close to 2 hours for them to print the paperwork, which took 10 minutes to sign. I feel like they should be a bit more efficient. I'm probably one of the only women on this blog, so I feel like getting Tesla delivered is like having a baby delivered, while you are in the process is sucks, but when you done.....it's awesome!!

They definitely have a lot of room to improve the delivery experience at peak times.

FWIW, several members of the Denver Tesla Club will be assisting with orientations this and next Fri and Sat. Hopefully we can help smooth things out even a little bit.

I like to imagine the joy you experience once you have the baby is similar to that rush you get going 0-60 in 3.2... Maybe the baby joy is better :)

I just got back from my delivery. It went very smoothly. As near as I can tell, there are no issues at all with the car. It looks great. I had to......but the guts of what they are trying to do seems to be in place. If the car turns out to also be a great experience then I'll gladly do this all again for our next vehicle.

Alright! Happy to hear things went well! Sorry about the work thing getting in the way of enjoying your new car - at least you had the freedom to pick it up!

Just my two cents on ordering and getting scheduled for delivery:
- 31 Oct--ordered AWD Black Model 3
- 14 Dec--learned about searching for the VIN "in the code" from this forum (hat tip)
- 16 Dec--found my VIN in the code
- 18 Dec--received text asking me to sign up for delivery on either 23 or 24 Dec. Had lots of website problems, to include the website stating that every time they had just offered me over those two days was taken. I eventually called the Littleton Tesla location, waded through their phone menu (after getting to a full voice mailbox for the delivery department), and got to a human who helped me very quickly get the exact time I wanted on Christmas Eve (great Christmas present!)
- 19 Dec--received text stating my car was arriving earlier than expected. It asked me to select a new time on 21 Dec, or I could stay pat and keep my appointment on 24 Dec. Again, had lots of Tesla website problems (I kept getting to an "uhoh" page with cool video of a Tesla driving up the coast of California when I tried to get into my account or get to the scheduling website). Eventually got it to work, and now getting my car on 21 Dec (this Saturday)

Still a bit perplexed about what paperwork I need to bring regarding my loan financed through my bank...the Tesla website just isn't clear on this, and I think the nice human I talked to may have given me incorrect info (hopefully not, however). I have an email into my SA. Hopefully I'll hear back from him tomorrow--SA has been responsive throughout.

Good luck to all!

78 deliveries today, including mine. :)
Apparently, the next week will be even busier.
Have fun, everybody!
When I picked mine up on Tuesday, they said they had over 100 deliveries that day, and over 500 per week!

Good thing they are also doubling the number of superchargers in the metro area. Hopefully they add one in the Thornton area sometime! By then I might be in Superior though.

I ordered LRAWD Blue/White, AutoPilot on 11/9, taking delivery @ Littleton and had not heard a peep in the 7 weeks (tomorrow) since ordering, so called Littleton delivery (dont bother with sales) and delivery associate said I would likely get car on 29th or 30th. No VIN yet. But he did say they are getting about seven trucks a day at this point!

Well, it is about 11:15 am. My delivery is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
I'm excited and a little anxious.
I'd planned to have all the funds sent before now ACH to Tesla, just walk in, sign a few places, be introduced to the car and be done.
However, Wednesday, I got a text that I needed to pick up the car Friday or Saturday - Schedule for these days or we will schedule for you.
I am happy to get the car now, please do not misunderstand. However, A little more warning would have been helpful.
The Honda Pilot needed to go but there was not time to advertise it so I shopped it around to dealerships. There was a $4,300 range in prices offered, I took the high offer and took those funds to my bank. My bank said, no problem, you can have the funds 5 business days from now because it was a large deposit. So I went to the bank the check was written on - same thing. They would not cash it or produce a Cashiers Check to Tesla from those funds - Same thing as my bank - We are going to hold the funds for 5 business day - it will be available December 26th. No cash, no anything.
That bank suggested I return to the buyer of my Pilot, a business, and have them wire the money to my bank account - the funds would be immediately available. I went to that business, they told me there is nothing they can do - they did not have a means to wire money to me.
Much stress on me, I felt pretty much SCREWED.
I called Park Meadows, it was my SA's day off. The person that answered the phone said there was nothing they could do but he put me on hold to talk with his manager. He came back on the line and restated that I was SCREWED, of course he did not put it that way. We continued to talk, he put me on hold again and after a long wait, he said he and his manager had conferenced with three other people and they would make allowance for my situation. Go ahead and keep your delivery appointment.
So today I am going under the cloud of this non-standard transaction to South Broadway with the idea that the people at Park Meadows are correct. As I said, I expected I would have everything done by ACH before I ever left my home - but banking policies and Tesla's short notice put me in a though situation.
So, excitingly and anxiously, I will meet for my scheduled appointment.
Oh, yes, I decided to drive there instead of taking UBER.
I'll let everyone know what happens!
Life is never dull!
Merry Christmas!

When I rescheduled my delivery the second time, the guy candidly say to avoid Saturday since it is by far their busiest day, and said I’d have a much better time first thing Monday morning since they spend Sunday prepping for those deliveries.

As soon as I landed in Ireland I got the text message saying that my car was ready for delivery back in Denver

@FalconPaws From what I understand, you don't need to bring paperwork from your bank, you need to bring a CHECK from your bank, or have your bank wire the money in advance. That is what is happening in my scenario (financing through an institution other than Tesla).

Picked up my P3D- from Littleton 2 days ago. Some thoughts:
- it wasn't the madhouse that I was expecting. It was steady at times and then other times almost dead with delivery specialists standing around.

- I got there 30 minutes early hoping to inspect the car before signing the paperwork but was told it was "in detailing". They really pushed signing the paperwork right then saying I could inspect the car all I wanted afterwards (when it was ready) and that they would shred all the paperwork if I decided I didn't want it.

- I waited maybe 15 minutes to get to the paperwork part and then another 15 minutes for the car to show up.

- I inspected the car for about 15 minutes (they gave me all the time I wanted). I could not find any fit and finish issues of note and I was looking for what I've seen in these forums (cracked roof, dirt under clear coat, damage to the paint, misaligned trim, etc). I wouldn't say it is perfect but certainly up to par compared to the numerous other new cars I've purchased. If I had to nit-pick, the chrome trim below the window on one side was slightly misaligned but not remotely as bad as some I've seen here. Some of the panel gaps could be better but were still decent.

- I asked the delivery dude what I do if I find any fit and finish issues after I get home. He said once you leave, you are on your own for fit and finish as they couldn't confirm if it happened before or after I took delivery.

- They also said they only put a 150 mile charge on the cars. I was traveling over 230 miles so they allowed me to use the supercharger.

I am home with the new P3D.
My wife drove the car home but we had to make several stops along the way, I brought my truck home in trail.
We got there about 12:45 pm, 15 minutes early. There were a lot of folks ahead of us so we took a seat and relaxed. I took a little more than an hour past our appointment time to begin the process. The concerns about the financial things I mentioned in post #196 amounted to nothing. I told the friendly Tesla representative about my conversations with the Park Meadows store yesterday. She did not check my story, but she said she knew the people I mentioned and if it was good enough for them, it was good enough for her. We made a number of signatures, verified insurance and Drivers Licenses. We went to the car, did a walk around, linked our phones, at 2:30 pm we were on our way to Broadway.
It took longer than I thought it would but I've spent much more time at conventional dealers in the past - like hours and hours more. I've never been to a legacy dealer that was so busy! Thumbs up for the efforts of everyone.
One more thing: OMG! You can't believe how many Teslas are there, it was difficult to find a place to park and there were a lot of Teslas moving from point to point within the facility.
Today they said they had 87 deliveries scheduled and over 110 for tomorrow.
I'd love to go down and help, there were numerous volunteers, but I don't know enough at this moment.
Anyhow, it was a good day.

Many thanks, pwdrhoundjenn. Tesla had told me early on I would need to bring a Dealer Funding Request, which I was prepared to bring. Then when I called (twice now), the Tesla reps told me all my financing is in order and has been taken care of. I can't square how that has happened unless Tesla has a direct relationship with my bank (USAA), which I'm starting to think they have.

Glad to hear that things were largely smooth for you folks. I was there for a couple of hours but don't think I met any of you.

And as for busy, yes. Most midsize dealers would be happy to sell through in a month what Littleton does in a day this time of the quarter.

Got my LR AWD Model 3 in Littleton today, but not without some hiccups:
- 12:00pm appointment
- Arrived early, and was being helped by 12:15pm
- Completed all paperwork by 12:25pm
- We waited 5 minutes for someone to take us out to inspect our car, but instead, the Delivery Manager came over to apologize that our car wasn't there. It was still on the truck 60-90 minutes away. He was apologetic and said they were embarrassed. We had driven from 1:15 hrs away so we were kind of stuck (well, I was--my family didn't need to stay so they started heading back). He asked if he could do anything for me like get an Uber, but I asked if he would pitch in the NEMA 14-50 charging adapter since I was going to buy it anyway. He agreed. I've been told they give these out to people who ask anyway, so maybe I didn't really get a good deal (?).
- At 2:00pm, my car arrived at the store. They then told me they were prioritizing it to go through prep first.
- Just after 4:00pm, they took me to my car to inspect it and for orientation. The guy was great. The front-side passenger door, unfortunately, had a fit problem (it wasn't seating in a level position at the top which left a small gap at the bottom). They acknowledged that and took some pictures, but said their Service Dept was closed and I would need to make a service appointment and come back.
- I departed just before 5:00pm (5 hours after arriving), but I have the car and thoroughly enjoyed driving it home.
- Finally, met some nice volunteers who were very helpful.

Continued good luck to all.

So, even though I still don't have a vin and can't do insurance until I do, got text message from mothership that our vehicle should leave factory on 24th...and I scheduled delivery for only day that was offered, Saturday the 28th.

If you have current insurance on a car, insurance companies seem to have a provision that you are covered on a new car as long as you inform them of the VIN etc with in a short period of days of picking up. I believe State Farm gave us 5 days but people should check with their insurer. We sold my car to Carmax I think the week before and made do with our other car. I did call my agent as soon as I picked up however...didn’t want to forget in the excitement of driving my new car. :D

BTW the evidence of insurance we provided to Tesla (had to send a photo of my current insurance card) was all they needed from us to show I was an insured driver in good standing with coverage. They can’t release a car to someone without car insurance. BTW if you sell your car ahead of time talk to your agent how to handle this. You don’t want to “cancel” your coverage completely. I forgot what exactly our agent set up but she made sure I still had insurance, but knew we had sold my car while waiting for delivery of the new one.
