Thanks! This is great!!

As an FYI, here are the problems I found upon delivery. I already have a mobile service appointment scheduled to correct these (see photos):

- Tail light lens incorrectly installed
- Bottom body trim incorrectly installed (front part)
- Defect in driver side window trim
- Missing cap over windshield wiper nut
- Scratch on dash

Thanks for providing this checklist! How did you document your concerns with Tesla? Was the Tesla rep present with you during your inspection? Did you both have a final list of all your concerns that you both agreed too? Thanks again for all your great info.

Just to be clear, this is not my video or my list. I was just posting it hear since I think he did a good job with the video and providing me with a text format to bring when I take delivery. I have not received my car yet.

I have not gotten mine yet, but my plan is to bring a pad of yellow post it notes, write the issue on them with an arrow to point at the problem and then stick next to the issue. Then I can take pics and/or walk back to distance myself and let the advisor at Tesla approach the car to see the issues...

I was thinking of doing the same with green frog painters tape.

Edit: Has anyone gotten any feedback from Tesla on the tail light alignment issue? Mine are exactly the same and I believe I've seen others find this....

I’ve been lurking in these forums for awhile, but haven’t posted. I picked up my Model Y in White/Black with the Performance upgrade package this past Saturday in Charlotte, NC. Delivery experience was good, but the car has multiple fit and finish issues like many of those described in these forums. No deal breakers, but still expected better quality.

I spent some time with the advisor and they buffed out multiple scratches on the lights/paint finish I left. The paint job is adequate with multiple defects especially around the gaps. Tesla rep said this is normal for their cars and I realize that paint will be destroyed as I start to drive it, but the quality feels like a $350 paint job special from Maaco.

The exterior of the car was clean. The interior of the car was very dirty. Debris on the dash and floors. I don’t think anyone did any QA with the car prior for it being available for my delivery. The car has multiple scratches on the plastic trim (particularly on the wheel wells with deep visible scratches), headliner defects, one significant panel gap, and fit and finish issues with the interior trim.

I setup a mobile service appointment for next week. I’m hoping these can be quickly corrected.

Having learned about quality issues Tesla owners have been reporting on I decided to take precaution and build my own delivery checklist. I took delivery of Model Y last week and I can proudly say that my checklist really helped me uncover few issues with the car that I otherwise would have likely missed.

In an effort to help others be more prepared, I'm sharing PDF version of my checklist via this post.

Cheers

Peter

From reading a lot of post, it looks like the is NO final QC at factory. Then it's the SC responsiblity to fix all of the defects. They dont care. Wash it, push it out and hope customer doesn't notice. I find that very offensive. Bad Karma. Elon needs to change this culture.

I think they're trying to save Q2 by pushing out as much production as they can, even if that production doesn't meet quality standards. I'm hoping they will change this in July. And few people have reported a problem that affects driving the car. It's mostly cosmetic issues.
