Long story short: As a Sig reservation holder I was originally given a delivery month of September on my MVPA. I then decided to add the Pano roof after realizing it would afford me, and my passengers, more headroom. My new MVPA says my delivery month is now October. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't believe my "S" would already be in production, so I don't think adding this option would affect the timing that drastically or at all (could be wrong). Any thoughts? If anyone has posted something like this elsewhere, I apologize.
Either that or a number of other things. Mainly falling under the ECR (Engineering Change Request)/ECO (Eng Change Order) category. Which I believe is a very good thing in the name of quality. I'd rather get my car a month later and have no issues with the pano roof here in the Pacific Northwest.
To perhaps state the obvious, the original date may have been the last week of September and the new date the first week of October. So, in reality, only a week difference to accommodate the change in order.
I subscribe to gg's theory -- they had to write up a new MVPA and the template now states October rather than the month for your original.
these proposed delivery dates should be taken with a grain of salt...I was told Late July by someone then Mid August by another person then Early September by someone else....Pretty sure no one really knows exact dates and are basically guessing.
I'm not sure how sig differs from production (and which they were talking about -- i assumed production) -- talking to a delivery specialist -- the timeline is supposed to be 4 weeks from your car starting manufacture to delivery (something like 2 weeks to build it, 2 weeks to deliver) -- assuming they tell you when production starts...
But that is only when they are up to speed on the line. There is a production rate ramp-up we have to climb that is just starting now.
Our Roadster 1.5 was touted as a "December production" car and was delivered March 30 of the following year. But, I would expect Tesla to be somewhat more accurate this time around.
My product specialist told me that as they move forward they're "able to get a clearer picture of our manufacturing schedule". So I would assume, by reading between the lines, that the ramp-up is going a bit more slowly than they had envisioned.
In a thread like this, it would really help if others posted their reservation # either in their post, in their signature, or in the text area above their avatar.
I also suspect they are making real time changes to the car based on customer feedback from the Get Amped tour. We know they are doing work on the Opportunity Console and there are hints of other things as well. They have the production capacity to play catchup, and it always seemed to me that the slow production ramp up also gave the opportunity for an extended beta test with production vehicles.
I am Sig 1058, and my date is "October". I am fine with this date, as it means that I can do so without financing (as long as the market doesn't tank).
After much thought, I decided to change my exterior and interior choices (sig #422). Got a new MVPA in less than a day, countersigned the next day, and delivery date remained September, 2012. TM was more than responsive.
Went from white/tan to silver/black. Saw that combo recently in the flesh (aluminum?) and it looked a bit less formal than the white as well as 'smaller' which is a good thing from my POV. The black interior is an issue in SoFla but I'm rolling the dice. It'll also make it easier to fabricate my personal CCI because black leather is relatively easy to match
