Delivery etiquette question

I’m taking delivery in about three hours on a 2020 MS. Is customary to give the person who delivers the car a gratuity? MB frowned upon it and I haven’t bought anything else in a really long time. I just want to do what’s customary.
Thanks.

It’s like chicken soup—it couldn’t hurt! But I’ve never heard of anyone giving the delivery people a cash gratuity... what might go over a lot better is a big box of donuts for the entire crew, not just the person delivering your car.

Tesla employees are paid. They are not providing you a “service” that would justify a “tip”.

Tipping Tesla employees for doing the job they are paid to do and delivering you the car you purchased is completely unwarranted.

This is why tipping is confusing to many people who do not live in the United States, for the above description applies to every profession where tipping is common in the United States.

(This is not an statement for or against tipping, in this case or in general, just that the contexts in which it is expected are arbitrary.)

I agree that there is NO need to tip for standard work. However, if you feel the employee has gone significantly beyond expectations, then a gratuity seems appropriate. $5, 10, or 20 is fine, but no more.
Recently, my ms was out of range for V10 OTA upgrade. The service advisor told me where to park vehicle for strong WiFi and invested an hour to push software to vehicle. So pleased with his pleasant attitude and follow through, I gave him a gratuity.

Back when I took delivery of my first model s, I brought them a bottle of Cristal. But this was back in the early days when tesla employees took pride in their jobs and delivering a fantastic product.

Probably too late for this but the only "tip" needed is don't have it delivered. Go pick it up in person, go over it with a fine tooth comb, and don't sign anything until the car is 100% to your satisfaction.
