Delivery in one week, order-to-production 4 weeks to the day!

Got a call from my delivery specialist, I'll pick up my new Model S one week from tomorrow (tomorrow is Saturday, Sept. 19) at the Denver Service Center. I ordered on Saturday, Aug. 29. Exactly one month order-to-delivery, barring a shipping or dual charger installation delay.

My car is already obsolete; there's talk of 360-degree cameras, cooled seats, new radar, etc. I should wait, I know, but I'm not getting any younger. A friend of mine has an S, has an X on order, so he'll have the latest-and-greatest when the X's start shipping. Just like digital cameras and computers, you buy what you need/want when you need/want them and be satisfied. A happy Tesla owner I shall be.

MS 90D, new blue, grey seats, Pano, Premium interior, Premium sound, cold weather package.

HPWC gets installed this Tuesday by the Tesla-approved electrician. I shall post photos of the pickup when available.

What was that oily stuff you used to buy for cars?

It's been a wild last week before I pickup this Saturday. I went on a week-long car trip to Utah in my wife's ICE, the trip went well. I discovered my path was on a Supercharger route so I plotted when I would be getting a charge and when I could skip charging.

Then my plans for a backup ICE vehicle got changed by a 6-point elk, only a couple hours from getting home. You can imagine this throws a wrench into my last week of waiting, but now I need my new MS so the wife can drive it to work!

When your car gets wrecked, have a Tesla on order...

Congrats on the car. I'm in the Springs and ordered around the same time as you but will have delivery in December. Almost the same exact car as yours.

85D, New Blue, Gray Next Gen, Pano, Cold Weather, UHF. Just missing the interior package and upgrade to the 90. Are you going to be doing anything with xpel or opticoat?

Congrats!!

At the moment I'm not doing any coatings. I kinda miss traditional car dealerships selling those things like fabric conditioner and stuff. Should I get that gooey undercoat for my Tesla? I could go into the Toyota dealer where I bought my [crumpled] RAV4 and ask for undercoating....yeah, I'll try that.

So why is your build time longer? And obviously, you have great taste in car options and colors.

Wait...we can't be seen at the same stoplight, our cars would be confused. You must change your order. Ask for mustard yellow or somethin'...

Actually, I'm buying almost an exact replacement for my wife's RAV4, only newer. I need an ICE that's 4WD and we loved the RAV4. My only regret (besides having to replace it) is that the newer RAV4s don't have a V6. You gained 100 more horsepower with *no* penalty in mileage.

The last weekend in August the SC let me take a blue 70D with gray next gen for the weekend and I was sold on the color. I'd rather have the black headliner but upgrading from the 70 to the 85 puts me at my budget. I still want to do at least xpel since my current car is riddled with chips from how we treat the roads here. :)

I very much want to hear about your coating experience for I, too, am concerned with the gravel Colorado uses on the roads.

It took 13 hours for the install (mostly running conduit and making trips to Home Depot) but the electrician got my HPWC installed. I used 100-amp wiring and conduit but have it running at 50 amps (several reasons for that, too many to mention here).

The inspector is supposed to come by tomorrow and then I'll be live! (note: I *know* the picture is sideways but I can't seem to be able to fix it)

From the big picture standpoint, order to delivery in 4 weeks is frankly worrisome to me. What does that short time frame between order and delivery translate to? A very small to nonexistent Model S demand queue? With the $1K referral bonus, you would think that demand would be spiking higher. Have orders for the S simply dried up? Are potential owners waiting for some product evolution?

Many people are waiting till the Model X reveal to order to see if there's anything they want that could potentially trickle down to the Model S.

Also, looking at TM.com, right now the queue is about 2 months (Expected Late November).

In short: Nothing to worry about.

No, Tesla went in overdrive mode this month to crank out and move as many cars as possible before the end of the fiscal quarter (Sept. 29).
