Delivery options for Boise?

We will be moving to Boise soon and would like to pay sales tax in Idaho vs. our current state. Has anyone in Boise taken delivery in Portland or Salt Lake? The remote delivery transfers liability for issues to the 3rd party transport which could be a nightmare.

Generally, I think almost all owners here just have them delivered; don't really see where the nightmare comes in. I know people frequently don't pick up in California because they require the sales tax right there, but I don't think most states are that way, so you probably could pick up in Oregon or Utah and then bring it back to Idaho--might need to research it for those states specifically. I had it delivered here four years ago, and the sales tax was due when I went to the Idaho DMV to register it.

You aren't going to get out of paying sales tax by taking delivery in Oregon unless you can also register it to an Oregon address. If it were as easy as taking delivery in Oregon, we would all be taking delivery there lol.

Looking to take delivery at a Tesla facility and pay tax only in Idaho
That is going to be the case almost everywhere. California seems to be very unusual and notorious in forcing people to pay sales tax there just for picking a car up. The majority of states seem to hold that if you don't register the car there, you don't pay the sales tax there.

The Portland delivery center Delivery Specialist I spoke to said taking delivery in Oregon is no problem and they can issue a 21 day use permit for travel to Idaho. He stated that it can take 10 days to get title documents when paying cash. I did not ask for details with a loan. If I pay in full in advance they may be able to supply title docs at time of delivery.

Massachusetts is the same as California, which is annoying for people in northern New England.
