My car was filthy when I picked it up. After washing I noted a ridiculous amount of paint defects. The swirls and stuff can be polished out.

However, there are some areas of poorly applied touch-up paint, and inclusions under the clear coat, not to mention some minor dents.

I've always thought factory paint jobs can't be matched by a body shop, so reluctant to let Tesla start blending body panels. I am tempted to let them respray the hood.

I wonder if I could ask for Fremont to send a new pre-painted panel.

Post some pics. I’m in the same boat. I’m scared to have the Tesla certified shop spray my car, even though it’s “free”

Interesting. I was just at a local BMW dealership and got the chance to look closely at some of the cars in the showroom.
If I was a picky guy I would also notice that not all the gaps are even or identical. They also have some black gasket material between some of the body joints that disquises the panel gap variation.

One X7 was especially bad

I understand the temptation to use panel gaps to identify quality builders, but rarely are all the competitors perfect as well.

Check out this paint defect on the lower passenger door. Some how I didn't notice the blemish for a while even after washing the car. Tesla says that they will fix it and it will take 10 business days or they will give me a $450 service credit. The car has PPF on the lower doors and the rocker panel. Tesla says that they will repaint the door and blend the rocker panel. My PPF guy says that he will reinstall the PPF for $250. What do you guy think, should I get it fixed or leave it alone? Tesla already has my car because the radiator failed and started leaking and is ready for me to pick up.

Leave it as is. At this area no one cares. Could be dirt. Plus you have warranty should it degrade further. Aluminium is a Race horse Thats what Audi had to learn the hard way (A8) and why they reverted back. Tesla prevailed but we have some collateral along the way. I give them the benefit of doubt.

May be I am wrong but I am never seen on Audi, Mercedes or BMW even on their cheaper models. But $130-150K car and like this? So no any words just a shame.
True but thats because the node Tesla dealers actualy ends up addressing and fixing all factory issues before they offer the car for sale. I have a friend who worked at Audi and they do reject a car at least every week or so and fix few other. (In a busy South Florida location)

The law varies by state but in most states i think if the repair does not exceed 500 and does not extend to more than one panel they have the right to not disclose it at sale.
