I have been waiting six weeks for my new P85 with all the options checked. Unfortunately, I just got a call from my delivery specialist and he told me that they "forgot" to install the Extended Nappa Leather Trim. Gave me the options of (1) Retrofit after ordering parts from California, (2) Rebuilding a new car that might not arrive till end of December, or (3) Deducting price. Does anyone have any insight into this kind of problem and know how difficult the retrofit would be? My excitement for tomorrow's perfect car delivery is now blunted... Moreover, I am starting to wonder what else they "forgot" to install.... Any insights are appreciatted.

I don't know about the retrofit info, but IMO I would wait the extra month for the new car. Get exactly what you ordered, chances are if you are buying a car like this you have other transportation in the meantime.

Wait! The extended Nappa is helpful with B pillar wear prevention and this car is very expensive. Get what you want. Don't settle.

If you can take delivery now and swap the extended nappa when it comes in, that'd be my choice. I don't know how long the retrofit would take but I'd guess less than a day… and even if it's more you just schedule it when a MS loaner is available and avoid the displeasure of driving anything else.

Back when I took delivery, they had not yet begun producing the kid's rear seats and so were delivering cars with that option as a due bill item. i waited about 3 months for it to come in, and for the life of me can't imagine wanting to wait that long without the car.

    Good Luck!

I would rather get car sooner and then let local Tesla Service Center do the swapping of the interior panels.. Removing existing and re-installing leather wrapped interior panels could be easily handled at the Tesla Service Center. In fact, I had to replace the B-Pillar Alcantara wrapped panel because of the minor defect (two bubbles). I was told that this is really easy thing to do, and in spite of my reservations on matching the color and appearance/fit, the replacement panel fit and matched the color perfectly.

    2 or 3, not 1. IMO

Rationale: There are plenty of retrofits in the lifetime of the vehicle that you can't avoid. For the ones you can, do so.

Yeah I would wait for what you ordered. Sucks but will be worth it.

Get it now and have them fix it later.

Consider the tax implications also. Delivery after 1 Jan will push your tax credit back.

I'd blow off the extended trim myself..... Call me the odd man out.

That's not a fair comment to make and I'll just chalk it up to irrationality sneaking in the I'm-disappointed-because-everything-isn't-perfect backdoor.

Obviously, the best decision for you is the one that fits your situation. If you're not in *need* of the car, then you can afford to wait a few more weeks and have them build you another car, and this one will go to another customer who chose the same awesome options as you (less the extended trim), or via the loaner program. If you do *need* the car, then the retrofit or discount suits better.

Take a deep breath, set the emotions aside, and you'll find the decision an easy one to make. Go Broncos!

Thank you to everyone for your input. I found out that my car wasn't the only one with this problem and that several cars had this particular issue on this particular day. Tesla has been very quick to resolve this problem and so far have agreed to the right steps to quickly resolve the issue for myself and other people affected. The standard that they are setting for themselves in quality and customer satisfaction is in line with what I expect with them. When they say to me that they are seeking perfection, it's easy for me to hold them to their own standard. Bottom line is that I am very pleased with the result. Thanks again.

Wait. Get it configured the way you want. But if you were on the fence about the Nappa to start off with, then take it off the list and get the car sooner.
