When I ordered, the sales rep offered the local dealer or Fremont.

I don't live in the bay, and wonder if Tesla can deliver to my house. I'm paying $1200 destination fee already picking up at Fremont.

I heard previous Tesla owners say they got the car delivered. Is this still an option anymore since manufacturing has picked up? Requirements?

It is still an option if you don't have a service Centre or store near your home. For example, in Canada many areas are still over 1,000 miles from a store or service Centre so you get door-to-door delivery. If you are within a reasonable distance (1 hour drive?) you need to pick up at the store I believe. Have you asked your Delivery Specialist?

This is answered in FAQs on Tesla's website:

What if I live far away from the nearest Service Center?
If you live more than 160 miles from the closest Service Center, your vehicle can be shipped directly to your home or office. Payment in full is required before the car will ship, and a window for delivery will then be provided. We encourage you to consider picking up your Model S at the Service Center, as it offers you the very best delivery experience, including the ability to schedule a specifi day and time for delivery, meet your local service team and receive a full vehicle walkthrough. Our supercharger network enables long distance travel unlike any other electric vehicle – perfect for your trip home!

Thanks so much! I did make the cutoff, so I'll talk to my D.S. delivery to the house is preferable isn't it? I can't see myself refusing delivery, even if I find some issues, I could get then resolved at the service center later right?

I'm 335 miles from my nearest service center. I've taken one delivery at home and one at the service center. The home delivery usually means your car gets loaded on a truck from your nearest service center and then delivered to your house. It will likely add a number of days to the delivery time.

I agree that Tesla will take care of any issues you may have upon delivery.

I personally preferred the Service Center delivery but have not had issues either way.

We are actually going to be very near the manufacturing plant when the car is completed. Sure, I wouldn't get all the special presentation treatment that the store provides but I'd be willing to forgo if I could save $1,200 vis a vis no delivery fee.

The delivery fee is not negotiable. You pay this amount if picking up in Fremont or having it delivered to Alaska.

It's for this reason why I'm considering the delivery to my house. I'm essentially paying the fee already.
