Hello! I recently had 7.56kW Tesla Solar and two Powerwall 2 installed in March 2020, activated in April (SCE).
I've noticed off and on that there is an odd saw tooth production pattern from the panels, as shown by the Tesla app itself. When this happens, generation hops between some range. For example, I'll get 1.9 kW, up to 2.4 kW, fluctuating constantly up and down with every refresh the app makes to monitor production. When this happens, I walk outside, flip the inverter off, wait 20 seconds, then back on. Once I do that, the inverter jumps into what I would expect. I just did this again today, and the production jumped from sawtooth 1.9-2.4 to 4kW constant. The production graph in the app shows a nice vertical cliff.
The interesting thing is that this doesn't happen every day. Yesterday was fine (Nice bell curve). But, it has been a problem since day one. There was a point where I called Tesla support, and they mentioned sending an OTA firmware update. It seemed better, but still inconsistent since that point.
Also, does anyone know what max production should be for these panels? I tend to get 5.8kW peak on average. Max I've seen is around 6.6kW. Rarely do I see 7kW+ (maybe around 3 times in the past 3 months).
I'm concerned the inverter is faulty or buggy, and is mismanaging the panels. I've uploaded an image demonstrating the production problem. The big vertical jump is where I flipped the switch off and on.
Thanks!
D
