Are demo cars ok to buy? I see a good deal on a 2020 LR with ~1500 miles on Tesla website for a decent discount.. anyone have any issues with demo cars? Thx

It should be fine. Being a new/untitled vehicle, it would still have the new car warranty and qualify for any new car state/local tax credits available in your area. Also, unlike new custom order MXs, it likely still gets free supercharging.

You'll also want to speak to a Tesla sales associate about other possibly even better deals as there are often additional "hidden" (not on the website) existing inventory demos available.

Watch out for acceleration shudder. Happens in the first 5k miles. Demos go through more harder accelerations as thats Tesla signature selling point. You’ll want to be in low/very low when punching it. If you do notice the shudder, ask for a fix before buying. It’s a temporary fix for all Ravens, but you’ll have a more enjoyable ride for at least a couple months. Good luck pressing them to fix it after buying. It’s a hit & miss, and they’ll say it’s safe to drive.

what’s the best way to test for this during test drive?

I bought a demo Model X Performance with 2000 miles on it a month ago, so far knock on wood, is operating flawlessly. I read this forum a lot and so far I have not had any issues reported here. I am thinking maybe they inspect these cars more closely since they are trying to sell and impress potential buyers.

Apparently some Ravens don’t get the shudder and some do. Tesla doesn’t know why, as Raven was meant to be the permanent fix, they figured out the issues with pre-Raven and revised Raven according.

do you know if we get everything on a demo car if you were to buy a new model X? Is there a checklist of items I need to check to see if everything is included? Thanks

It's no difference between new and demo. It's still treated as buying a new car. I have everything inside the front trunk. If I can remember there are...
1. Tow Hitch
2. Mobile Charger Connector
3. Shade
3. Front and Rear License Plate Holder

For me the number 1 and 2 items are most important. Also two keys inside a very nice Tesla box.

Congrats on your new Tesla.

Purchased a demo unit last year. Saved $5k. It ran fine at the start, about 8 months later the suspension became very noisy. SC replaced parts under warranty and it's working great. I would do it again.

demo car can potentially be better than new and cheaper.
It is a demo, unless it is being abused by the customers in the showroom, during test drive, and/or whatever other demo purposes, I don't think Tesla would want to show a car to the customers with paint defects, uneven panel gaps, acceleration shudder, abnormal noise/rattles, etc.

My demo car came with a damage disclosure I had to laugh at. The car had over $78k in damage and they repaired it and tried selling it as new, clean title since it was never sold. I walked away.

Its a hit or miss with inventory cars. Definitely need to check them a bit closer than a brand new car.

Details please.. where can I find the damage disclosure document? I am going to pick up my car from 500 miles away. It would be messy finding transportation back if I had to go through something like that

Ask your delivery specialist or OA if the vehicle has any damage disclosures attached to it.
They legally have to tell you if it does.

DC doesn’t go on carfax Since Tesla owner the vehicle when it occurred but can be super shady as a transaction down the road.
