Demo vehicle pricing

Hi folks, first-time buyer and Tesla noob here.

So I'm looking at a "new" Model 3. I was informed that it already has 700-800 miles on it, probably a demo car. I was also told one of the wheels is slightly curbed. Tesla is offering a price adjustment of $180. That seems a little low to me. What do you guys think?

Curbed rims are pretty common to Teslas. since the wheel sticks out beyond the tire. It happens to everyone.
Tesla hasn't been known to take much off of its demos, but you can always ask.
See how much it would be to fix the wheels and try asking for that, but don't worry about fixing them. Let it be your first ding so that you don't have to worry about a pristine car.

If the alignments and the paint are in great shape, then it may be worth keeping. If you order a new car, it may only take days though.
But hurry the demos seem to sell quickly.

Tesla is being greedy on this one. Their normal policy is to discount demo cars by .72/mile. So $180 doesn’t even come close. There is no way I’d buy a car with that many miles on it to save $180 over a brand new never driven one.

I bought my demo car that had 929 miles on it, pristine condition with 980$ price adjustment

Price adjustments at the beginning of a quarter seem to be rare and small.

They might recondition the rim (or replace) if you ask.

I'd want a dollar per mile reduction at the very least, too.

Tesla's demo policy is ridiculous compared to new pricing. I guess if you're in a hurry it might be worth it.

I agree it needs a bigger discount but the reason to buy is if the fit/finish is really good and you don’t want to risk getting a new car that has issues and dealing with that stuff.

Demo cars can be a great deal but it is hit or miss. I got my MS with an $11,000 demo discount and 13 miles on the car.

I don’t think so.

I didn’t say zero. But it’s very much dwindled since several weeks back. There been no Model 3 in inventory at Fremont for a bit.

It just seems strange to me that Tesla would completely shut out the North American market for almost 2 months. Last quarter, people received cars within 2-4 weeks in the 2nd month (the equivalent of November this quarter). But it seems like Tesla is definitely saying all new Q4 orders wait until December for delivery.

That will definitely create demand in North America, but likely create a lot of cancellations as they approach Xmas. The $1750 tax credit isn't enough for most people to care.

I don’t think so.

Chicago area inventory went from a dozen about 10 days ago to one red SR+ and two white LR AWDs as of right now. The LRs just showed up — an hour ago it was just the SR+.
