Demo vehicle/Tread Depth

I purchased a Demo with 3500 miles on it. I had to get service for a few issues that I noticed immediately. During there courtesy check they noted the tread depths at 7. I know the spec is 10 and recommended change is at 4.

Anyone have any experience with Tesla replacing tires under warranty? It seems like a lot of wear for a few thousand miles.

What size tire? 20 or 22inch? Send me a pic of wheel so I can see exactly which wheel/tire combo it is.

It's the 20 inch silver, Continental CrossContact tires.

I bought a demo with 7,700 miles, delivered with 7/32 tread and now at 12,000 miles with 5/32. If the wear is even, then it's probably just 3500 miles of spirited test drives and hard launches.

It can't hurt to ask, but the whole point of the showroom discount for demo cars is the wear and tear.

Yeah, have had it for less than 4 months and I'm expecting to have to replace them next month.

I'm probably going with the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 tires, but just posted to see if anyone else has experience with them on the Model X. They performed great on my X5M and X6M and only $850 for the set. Compared to the CrossContact LX at $1,225/set and the Michelin Latitude Sport 3s I have now at $1,600/set, they seem like a bargain.

Similar experience with my MX. Bought as a demo vehicle and its tread depth when taking it was about the same as yours with 2,500 miles. I thought it was pretty low compared to the other X sitting right next to it that was new. Was told it was part of the discount when buying a demo car. I've already put 7k miles on it and I expect I'll be needing to replace the tires in the spring. At least thats what I'll be pushing for.

Pretty much what I was told today, that it was part of the discount. Thanks for everyone's input. I wonder if the tire warranty offset's any of the cost of replacement. I know since it's staggered the warranty is cut in half.

I have a loaner X with 800 Miles on it. Factory 20” wheels and continental tires.

Tread is just under 8 mm or 9/32 all around

Wanted some information. I picked up an inventory model X with 3800 miles on it. The rear passenger tire had a gash across the side wall. The delivery specialist told me that he had checked with the service manager and the tire was within specifications and safe. I said I would accept delivery if they would acknowledge that any damage as a result of that tire was on Tesla and that I wanted that put in writing on the delivery form. To that there was an immediate offer to change that tire. I asked if all 4 tires or at least the rear set needed to be changed and I was told that if the tire depth of the used tires is within 2mm of full tread then the other tires don't need to be changed. Now car has 3800 miles, Will this affect the rotation and RPM and handling of the car. I am new to this, so I don't understand, but if anyone has had any experience or can suggest if this will affect handling, I would much h appreciate it. The delivery was a little "Rocky" in the words of the delivery specialist, but he has I am assuming accommodated when he could.

As long as the tire is within 3/32 of the other rear, you should be fine.

Back in the olden days it was not suggested to replace only one tire with an AWD car. That rule rule might have changed in these modern times, I would ask your local trusted tire shop.
