All, I wanted to let you know about this National Drive Electric Week event hosted by the North Texas Electric Auto Association this Saturday from 10am to 3pm. It would be nice to have some Tesla representation there.
We have the same problem reported by other Drive Electric Week organizers. Few interested Tesla owners: Registered Attendees There are currently 101 attendees registered. National Drive Electric Week Event - Dallas-Fort Worth
Latest update: Good Morning Everyone! I just wanted to send one last email to all those planning to participate in the NDEW activities over the next few days. If you do not own an electric vehicle, please stop by a participating dealer near you and experience the vehicles. The day each dealer is participating as well as the EV Specialist point of contact is listed on our website, National Drive Electric Week - Need Cookies. For those of you who already own EVs, we would love to see you out at the NTEAA meeting on Saturday morning. Those details are also on the website. We welcome those who don't own EVs to attend that meeting as well. Current owners can provide feedback on what the vehicles are like to drive everyday. One last item, for current EV owners (of all types of vehicles), we're trying to coordinate a mini-rally from Makerspace in Carrollton to Classic Chevy in Grapevine after the NTEAA meeting/gathering on Saturday. We would possibly leave Carrollton around 2 pm (we'll confirm the exact time on Saturday morning though) to head over to Grapevine. It's only about a 15 minute drive. We need a headcount on who can participate though. Buzz Smith from Classic Chevy needs to know by Friday morning so they can prep a space at his dealer for cars to hang out. If interest is too small, we'll cancel these plans. Please let me know by 5 pm today (Thursday) if you would like to participate in this mini-rally. Also, please copy Buzz Smith at [email protected] on that response email so he has an idea of interest. Thanks so much and I look forward to seeing everyone soon! Kenny Bergstrom
It was a nice gathering! Probably twelve Teslas of various kinds showed up over the course of the event. Every color was represented aside from multi-coat red (yes, we had sig red), new gray, black and blue. So, shame on you owners. We also had a nice selection of Leafs, Volts, and some homemade EVs. NCTCOG had some nice car-care gifts and a fair number of people came by to have their first rides in EVs. A few of us made the rally over to Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine -- one Roadster, three Models S, four Volts and three Leafs, if I recall correctly. I can tell you this was the one and only time that I've driven LBJ at 60 MPH! Classic put us up in their Corvette maintenance bay (out of sight of their new car buyers hehe) and we continued the fun for another hour there. Thanks to Dallas Fort Worth Clean Cities - Home for hosting and organizing the event!
Good. Three Volts, two Leafs, a Roadster & an S at that point? I needed to get my patient passenger to In-n-Out, or I was going to have a crisis.
NCTCOG held the Electric Vehicles North Texas (EVNT) Stakeholder Meeting and National Drive Electric Week Recap last week. The full details and presentations are here: http://www.nctcog.org/trans/air/programs/evnt/2014/111214/Agenda.pdf I thought you'd enjoy the following slides: Here's the number of EVs and PHEVs in the NCTCOG area by ZIP Code. Darker Greens have more cars registered. You'll see Park Cities, McKinney, Frisco, Southlake and Arlington lead with > 20 registered vehicles. EV registrations have roughly doubled in Texas over the past year. I think there are problems with the underlying data (you can't count on the sales for each car being correct, but it's correct in total).
