That is fantastic. Strong work once again. I am not clear on exactly where In the footwell you found that. Can you please explain? I would also love to know the specific type of connector if anyone recognizes it. Would be nice to make a plug and play harness.
It’s behind the vertical carpet by the footrest. Hopefully the pictures help. It would be sweet if someone can ID the connector so we can just plug into it.
In the first picture I’m pointing to the first piece of trim I removed. Then just kind of lifted the door sill and carpet up to move them out of the way. It was super easy and popped right back into place when I was done.

Might this be the connector for additional ambient lighting inside the doors? Could be if it switches off after closing the doors. You may want to play with the ambient light controls and see if that has an effect.
That is what I was thinking too. I'm hoping it is not affected by the ambient light controls.

It may very well be for ambient lighting but it did not turn off during my drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles today. There are 4 pins in the connector so one very well may be an on/off signal. The good news I found switched power for the radar detector. Appreciate everyones help.

Has anyone successfully connected Toolbox 3 to a refreshed Model S? I want to see live data to verify some of these CAN signals, but apparently there needs to be an interface between laptop and vehicle. Tesla service and parts info says nothing about an interface. I've tried using a Vector vn5610a media converter, but could not establish a 100base-t1 link to the 2 wire circular diagnostic port. I really want to help find CAN signals for the refreshed Model S, especially my Plaid.

I believe that this connector is for a brake controller, if you’re towing a trailer with electric brakes. It’s listed in the owners manual, you can get the pigtail from Tesla for $4.00- I believe this is what is being shown…

Super happy now 😁 Lol. I found a four pin connector that is not connected to anything behind the driver’s footwell. Took the multimeter to it and found switched 12v and a ground. Connected my old mirror tap to it for test and it works like a champ. Shuts down when I get out of the car and close the door. Turns back on when I open the door. It was a pain to get a good picture - sorry.
I zoomed in and straightened your photo. Can you please tell me which is 12v and which is ground?

Also, I searched around for a matching connector without success. I did find this, though I have zero clue of the size and whether it would come close to fitting:
4 Pin Female Connecor

I connected my Escort radar detector to it and it worked. Only backed in and out of the garage to make sure the power didn’t go off - didn’t get any alerts or anything but I’ll admit it wasn’t on much more than 10 minutes. Also, I figure the radar detector isn’t much of a load.
Fwiw I actually used 12v from the camera assembly up top and it works great to power my Uniden R7. (also is switched power, though obviously stays on with sentry mode).

Yes, please post a pic. For $4, it is a no brainer, except for the issue of calling Tesla to get it.
With tab up, bottom left red- wire reads “ 12V battery + 20A”. Top left black, assumptions are negative.
Top blue right wire reads “ trailer brakes”. Lower right white wire reads “ brake switch “. Hope this helps. If different pictures are needed let me know.

Thank you. Ordering that part tomorrow.
FYI, I created a new thread, just to discuss 12V access. I unintentionally hijacked this thread, and taken it off topic. New thread is here

Those are the leads on the trailer connector part. They are NOT the same as the corresponding connector in the drivers footwell. Positive and negative may turn out to be the same but it is not a trailer brake connection.

Can you please explain specifically how you accessed this? Posi-tap? Split with a connector?
I actually just stole the power lead that goes to the infrared LEDs for the driver monitoring camera, for now.

Edit: Apologies that I don't have more time to show photos, but my steering column is in pieces and i'm reassembling it with my freshly installed turn signal stalk. :)
