Also: owning twitter and de-facto having a huge say on content moderation isn't going to be fun when you also do a lot of business with China who tends to see "freedom of speech online" quite restrictive. Imagine a devout anti-Xi account or whistleblower being on twitter and at the same time Tesla needs another permit or whatever for Shanghai. The Chinese do know that Musk owns twitter and could put him in a difficult spot.
He could always just pull his business from CCP and tell them to get bent.

Option 1: Take down the account, and face the music from the US government
Option 2: Don't take down the account and get denied the permit, because the CCP does not operate according to the rule of law
Option 3: Sell Twitter at a loss to eliminate the conflict of interest

I think he's going to have to go with option 3.
He could always just pull his business from CCP and tell them to get bent.
Unlike Twitter, he doesn't own a majority of Tesla. Tesla's investors do, and if he did that, he'd probably get removed as CEO. And he owns even less of a minority stake in Tesla now that he's sold shares to fund the Twitter purchase.

Seems like a willful violation of his fiduciary duty to Tesla. Seems like the SEC and Tesla shareholders might have something to say about him effectively stealing Tesla company resources for his own personal gain.
