Did Tesla just kill the cream interior just for the P100D?

We are looking to upgrade and have been playing with the online configurator but noticed this morning that the cream interior, which we really like, is now gone! The strangest part is that the cream interior is only missing for the P100D and available for other Model S trim levels.

We are not a fan of dark interior so this is really disappointing. Did they really just kill the cream interior just for the P100D? Why would they do that or is this a glitch?

Yeah, they did. That's really a head-scratcher for me.

Reminds me of when they discontinued the 19" wheels for the performance Model S. Thankfully they restored that option.

We can't be the the only Tesla customer interested in the P100D and prefer the cream interior.

Maybe a bug, or maybe part of optimization removing rarely ordered combinations (so cream interior joins textile seats for P100D).

The 19" wheels was a for profit move, to force people to buy a more expensive option. All interior options are priced the same, so this seems different. Maybe it's the new VP of sales and service implementing his new ideas (and yes, that would be Elon since he took-on that job too).

But what difference does it make if it’s a P100D or a 100D?

If they were to optimize the lines then they’d remove it completely.
But they’re only removing it for a one type of model s.

Maybe removing rarely ordered combinations is now automated (Elon's style)? While it doesn't optimize the manufacturing, it does optimize inventory and CPO. Just shooting in the dark here. Or maybe the new Oak decor is not compatible with P100D? ;)

But why remove the cream option from your most expensive car? We can't stand black interiors and the white interior would not work for us because the lower panels are still black whereas with the cream interior you get a truly light interior as the lower panels are also cream.

Not everyone who buys a P100D is into the blacked out chrome deleted dark theme...

Agreed. Our favorite combination was grey with light headliner (last available end of 2016 IIRC). That said, there is no arguing with the new VP of sales (Elon) - he always knows best.

    He knows best?

    Seriously? :p

I realize we are all patrons of Church Tesla but I draw the line at someone else knowing what color I like best and works best for the interior of my car. The cream interior is offered with the 75D and the 100D. Should someone buying a P100D be treated at least as well as someone buying a 75D or 100D, who still get to pick the cream interior they prefer?

I know at one time there were a bunch of cream interior P100Ds around and not many of the other colors. Could be that there were very few people buying them so they just nixed the option. Does seem odd though, I quite like the Cream in my P100D.

I don’t care what you have in inventory, if I’m spending $20K (whatever) more, I better be able to get the same colors as the plebes in the 100D (like myself lol). :D

And I think the cream is the best current color, but this is all subjective. My reasons are the black is too hot, and white is blinding white.... Cream is tons better than the old tan. But whatev, as they say. Really a puzzling decision, if that is really the point. Pay more and be restricted to black and white. One more reason to not get a P car when I win the lottery!

We love the tan interior of our Model S and find cream to be open, airy, and understated. I actually feel the cream interior goes well with the new oak wood trim as well and was excited to see the new oak trim but then disappointed to see the cream option go away when we select the P100D.

The reasons you gave are exactly the reasons we selected tan for our current car and wanted cream for the next new order we place. I really hope this is an unintentional glitch and they will restore the cream color option for the P100D.

Would not be surprised if Tesla comes out with a more upscale light interior for the P100.

You could always call your local friendly Delivery Specialist and see what they could do to get you to order today.

I would love upgraded seats for the P100D. That would be great. It would be nice if the P had something besides colored calipers and a bigger motor.

The P100D now has something special no Tesla has and that is NO CREAM INTERIOR for you! :p

I ordered a P100D Model S on Apr 29 with cream interior. I inquired with Tesla today about the wood and I will be getting the Oak Decor. I'm happy with that. It will be a rare combo. :)

That is fine. I don't like the cream interior.

Black with red stitching would be cool.
