Sure lets add even more expensive unnecessary technology to solve problems that don't exist, that will need updating, repairs, and troubleshooting.
Perhaps the glove box is opened by pushing the box or from the touch screen. Would fit with the religious focus on not having a single button on that dash.
Or maybe there isn't a glove box... or it's been moved to the space in the center console under the screen.
Maybe but we're not there now so cars designed for NOW shouldnt rely on voice commands.
If you goal is to help save the world via selling clean transportation, adding a bunch of frustrating, unreliable, unnecessary techno toys into the cars is an obstacle to your goal.

Tesla's don't have start buttons. If you've not already, you might want to test drive a Model S.

On the Model S you press the a button on the steering wheel to start a voice command. I suspect the Model 3 will be similar. I've been really pleased by how well the voice recognition works in the S (calling contacts, looking up songs on Slacker, etc).
But don't forget with the Model S/X you need to have internet connectivity for the voice commands to work.

This can probably be solved with spare cycles on the AP2 hardware or a custom ASIC chip.
There area a lot of ways to fix it, but I wouldn't expect it to change any time soon.

My current car has no glove box button or lock. You simply press the glove box door and there is a soft open. Glove box locks are useless. A screwdriver or pen knife can open a locked glove box in about two seconds.

I have been driving a car for three years that has the speed and critical information in the approximate location of the model 3 screen. As soon as I drove it off the dealers lot, I was used to the location. It is just as safe if not safer than having the instrumentation behind the steering wheel.

My Prius doesn't need Internet to work. The technology is there. My car doesn't even offer Internet connectivity.

Talking TO your phone and trying to use voice commands does make you look and sound stupid.
Talking ON your smart phone doesn't look stupid because you're talking to another person, unless you're having a full volume conversation like a lot of idiots forcing everyone around you to listen to what you're saying.

BMW X1 dash is a POS. I have one and hate it. Miss my Tesla every time I drive it.
That is correct, but that is not how Tesla does it. Tesla uses the internet now and I would not expect that to change for the Model 3.
