Cleaned the inside of the rear screen yesterday, with a clay bar and lubricant. A very gentle run over turned the, previously white, clay bar to black!! THAT's where all the dust accumulates. Amazing how much dirt comes of a "clean" screen after a year's running with a gentle clay bar rub! Invisible Glass after that and you would (indeed!) think the glass had vanished.

Is the "rear screen" what we Yanks would call the back window, oder den Deutschen, die Heckscheibe?

Indeed Sir, or the "Rear Window" if you like your Hitchcock.

See this link for one example of a clay bar for cleaning your car's paint (and glass)

All you've ever wanted to know about Clay Bar.

Essentially, a polymer blob that feels like clay, hence the name, that, in conjunction with a lubricant removes fine particles that have strongly adhered to the car's paint or glass.

mmm, carefully cleaning Tesl glass: sounds very so satisfying!
And thanks for the clay bar link- I always thought it was clay, and the tiny particles were ultrafine polish. Live and learn, hey :)

"Carefully" w.r.t. the rear screen especially...get rough with it and you might just damage the heater elements and other wires that adhere to the inside of the glass. You can feel these as you move across the glass surface, they're not (all) embedded in the glass.

If you are using a claybar on the inside, remember to fold and reshape the clay often. This puts the contaminants on the inside, leaving the working surface clean. Helps avoid scratchs.
