EV’s and the need to wring as much range out of them as possible is making really really clear that traditional car and truck designs are inefficient and illogical. They’re attractive because they’re what we are used to generally, but use large amounts of energy that don’t need to be used just due to aesthetics. Like... double or triple in some cases. Pickups are egregious in that regard. Even the CT is a compromise with that edge where the roofline starts to slope back down. Flow detaches. You should read up on the design. Lots of reasons for that futuristic design.
Love it or hate it it's not just for aesthetics. Although I suspect they want it to look very different for being noticed. Big reason is for cost cutting production benefits which will keep the price lower as well as wind resistance and maximum interior space.
I'm sure I didn't say it well but there are reasons for it
The future is large, highly-sloped windshields and cars that are closer to those Mercedes things in shape. I wish it weren’t true, but it is. You dont really want to give up 100 miles of range to get a two-box shape. Or... at least our children won’t.
